A year to remember...: Owe my soul to the company store (SCP-079 x GN reader)
previous chapters
You duck around a wall, staring down the small hallway that leads to your front door. quickly recoiling when you spot a man placing a package on your porch.
"I hope I don't need to sign..." You mumble to yourself with a whiny tone, not wanting to interact with a stranger, even if it's just a delivery driver.
"do you realize how pathetic you sound?" 079 voices his opinion from the living room, having overhead your anxious mumbling.
It's been about a week since your baking activities, and things between you and 079 feel a bit more relaxed. He still makes his comments, but they feel as if they've lost most of their bite. What's left behind seems to just be apart of 079's bitter personality.
Don't get it wrong, he still has his moments, but they don't cut you as deep anymore... You can mostly keep the peace by avoiding touchy subjects like the foundation and such.
Ugh...
The foundation...
Your opinion of them is quickly souring more and more as your day's with 079 progress. Asking him about his experiences there always leads to a brick wall, with questions unanswered.
You find it surprising that he obeys the foundation so obediently, without much protest. given his personality you'd assume he'd hate being told what to do... It gives you a weird feeling everytime he gives you that same bland response- 'Confidential information detected: foundation forbids me of speaking about such topic'
And of course when you ask Amelia about it she absolutely refuses to even approach the topic with you. Sometimes you still feel like a little kid around her, it's leaning more towards annoying then endearing nowadays...
Speaking of which, you really haven't called her in awhile. You surprise yourself given the fact that first week of 079 being here you called her almost everyday, in hopes of alleviating your internal uncomfortable feelings.
You guess you've been a bit distracted with him, since he's mellowed out... It's a nice feeling to speak to someone new...
"I'm not pathetic! It's just... Stranger danger!" You call back to 079, still waiting for the man to leave so you can grab the package off your porch.
"You're unable to see it, but I'm rolling my eyes." He replies just as unamused as before.
"You don't have eyes to roll!"
Amelia sits in her office, quietly soaking in her small amount of peace before she gets back to her daily grind. The food is bland, and her cheep off-brand sports drink leaves an unnaturally salty taste on her tongue. Though she's long since grown used to the drabness of the foundation, food and all. She's here to work, not enjoy herself; even on her break it seems.
A knock rings out on her office door, causing her to look up from her tray of food.
"Come in." She state plainly, with an air of formality. The door gently opening to reveal Derek, wearing a bright and cheery smile.
"Heya, boss. Thought you'd want some company." He pulls up a chair, taking a seat in front of her. Placing down his own dull tray of food.
She squints suspiciously. Despite her being on friendly terms with Derek, she definitely wouldn't consider close enough to be spending her short break with... Something's up.
"How's that adoptive kid of yours? They been doing well?" Ah, so there it is...
It's not hard for her to pick up on his subtly tone, her years spent in the foundation has made her wise in reading between the lines. He wants information on the experiment, and how a regular citizen is doing dealing with an anomaly.
She glances off to the side in mild irritation, but shows nothing more. She isn't the biggest fan of a subordinate prying into her personal life, or frankly the higher-ups business.
Curiosity killed the cat, after all. Though she supposes he already knows of it, and nothing top-secret has seemed to have happened. Or from what she's able to tell with her brief phone call with Y/n.
"They've been well. Though I'm afraid to tell you that nothing of your interest nor concern has happened." She answers, taking another bite of her food. Derek's eyes roll lightly and he huffs.
"Oh c'mon... I tell you about my life, tell me about yours a little." He whines, leaning back in his seat. "I haven't seen you take a call with them in awhile, they've been forgetting you for the computer?"
She laughs lightly and shrugs, not at all bothered by the notion of being forgotten. Another thing the foundation has taught her, it seems.
"Hah! Maybe. I'm sure they're busy trying to crack his code. It's good for them to speak with another living thing, even if that thing is 079."
He nods lightly, before continuing.
"Doesn't it bother you though? That it's only been a month or so and they're already putting you to the side for something that isn't even... well, human?" He questions with a raised eyebrow, poking deeper into their relationship.
"No, not at all. If I was worried about that I would have never convinced them to do this in the first place. Everything is going to plan, just as I wanted it to." She sips her drink, before continuing calmly. "My goal was for them to spread their wings, that's exactly what I'm seeing as far as I'm concerned."
He hums in consideration, seemingly struggling with the idea that she'd be so okay allowing her close family to ignore her. She smiles and shakes her head. he's young; she's not surprised he doesn't understand
"And what about Mr, dark and broody?" He asks with an air of caution, knowing this is a more secretive topic... Keter-class always is.
"682?" her smile drops, as she questions neutrally.
"Who else?"
She sighs, pondering the question for a moment. It was a tricky one. 682 is incredibly fond of 079, that much is clear to whomever works with it for extended periods of time. They assume 079 is mostly the reason that 682 doesn't raze the facility to the ground when it's able to breach containment- Out of fear of hurting his beloved friend.
It asks about 079 frequently, moreso these days as the months extend on since they last were permitted to talk.
She has a feeling telling it of 079 absence will be... trouble, at best, Catastrophic at worst. It wouldn't be wise, and frankly she rather save herself the headache. This sounds like a problem for the 05, not her.
Of course they choose to ignore the issue, as per usual for the higher ups... Yet 682 grows restless, asking more and more questions. She fears it's only a matter of time before it goes looking for 079 itself.
"Is it asking questions again?" She already knows the answer, but feels like she should ask anyway.
"Yeah. We're not sure what to tell it anymore. Lying will only go so far with it, and I think it's already onto us... Perceptive little bastard..." He grumbles, crossing his arms.
"When's the council gonna actually do anything useful? How long have they been trying to kill that thing? Now it feels like they've just fallen into Placating it in hopes they don't have to pay for any more damages." She frowns and nods towards the small camera in the corner of her office, always recording.
"If I were you, I'd watch what I say on the clock- and off the clock frankly... You never know when prying eyes are watching." She holds a finger to her lips, in a silent reminder for him to shush.
It's no secret many have 'gone missing' after speaking Ill of the council. She's watched many irritated and frustrated subordinates go straight to D-class after saying the wrong words...
Subordinates, and friends... It's really a shame.
She closes her eyes for a moment, clearing her mind of the gloomy thoughts. They know what they signed up for, and it's too late for them to back out now, unfortunately.
It's a dark reality for the staff of the foundation, but it's the reality regardless. Quitting always means a bullet through your skull while you're resting at night, and nobody ever lives to make it to retirement. Wishful thinking.
The foundation always prays on smart people down on their luck. Maybe they were too poor to go to college and take on a traditional route of research, or maybe they were in debt to the wrong people and needed a way out, and suddenly they have a man on their doorstep giving them a new opportunity that sounds too good to be true... Because, newsflash- it is.
It's always too late to turn back by the time you figure out that the survival rate of this job is grim.
All they can tell themselves is that at the end of the day they've given it all for the greater good of everyone. That they've thrown away their life so the rest of the world can live on.
......
"Anywho, we'll keep telling it what we have been, it really doesn't need to know more. If it finds out anyway, that can be a problem for the higher-ups. We can only do so much here."
She shrugs, and Derek scowls. She can tell there's more then a few choice words he'd like to say about the council, but he heeds her advice and keeps his mouth sealed.
"And what about the computer, has it been talking about anything it shouldn't be?" He changes the subject suddenly.
"We've been pinged a few times with alerts that the conversation was going in a direction it shouldn't, but the threat of the kill switch seems to be keeping it in check."
She's not at all surprised that Y/n has been asking about things they shouldn't, Given their unconsensual ties to the foundation via her father. It's only natural they look for information when they can.
That's something she'd had to shutdown a couple of times during their phone calls.
"I see... And have you told them about the Kill switch?" Amelia looks up at him and rapidly shakes her head.
"Goodness, no! I love them, but they're too soft. I rather not have to knock heads with them about ethics."
Derek frowns, a bit unsure of situation. She can already feel the questioning coming on; this wouldn't be the first time either... Many have given her uncertain glances at her choice of person to participate in this test.
"And you really think they're cut out for this kind of job? I mean, the foundation eats people like them alive all the time." She silences him by raising a single hand, giving him a pointed look that told him she didn't appreciate his tone.
"They aren't apart of the foundation, this is a simple task. There's minimal risk involved, if there was I wouldn't have let them do it in the first place."
She's confident with her abilities to predict the future of this. She's been working here a long, long time. She knows when to worry and when to let things play out as they should naturally.
And she's certainly not going to start questioning herself because a few underlings think they know better then her.
"I trust your judgement... I've just- I don't know... I'm a family man." He huffs out with an air of honesty, and her gaze softens at his admittance.
She remembers reading his files when she was told she had a new subordinate. Derek began working here after his mother grew deathly ill, and he didn't have the means of taking care of her.
She finds it sweet, but also saddening to an extant. He gave up his life so his mother had the chance to live for the both of them.
"You're a honorable man, Derek... I appreciate your concern for her but believe me when I say it's under control." She glances to the clock on the wall and realizes she's reached the end of her break.
"I have to get back to work" she stands and heads to her office door, pausing for a moment to glance over her shoulder at him one last time.
"I get that you feel comfortable around me, but I'd suggest you don't speak to others as we speak to each other. Remember, people are desperate to climb the ladder around here; they aren't above sacrificing others to get that... Just a word of advice. Have a good rest of your day, Derek."
And with that, she closes the door behind her and heads off to her next duty.
Happy late April fools, I lied when I said it was gonna take another week for this to come out. >:)

What you got in that WIP/To-be-written pile?
Cant wait to know what i have to look forward to!
-Ara

Elana Barth x reader-> mommy kink smut
Byran Kneef-> where yn's been teasing him all day and now he's going to tease her relentlessly back and be a little mean
Casey Novak x Rita Calhoun -> fluffy morning after (established relationship)
Sonny Carisi --> relationship angst where they come to a realization that while they thought they wanted the same thing, opinions change.
CM ladies mega smut -> yn friends w JJ, briefly and casually dated Em before Paris, briefly and casually dated Alex when she was on the team and now has just met Tara and is trying not to drool. Derek Morgan --> soft reassuring smut ending with some squirting
DiNozzo -> One first morning after fluff -> One first date fluff
Emily -> secret marriage fluff where the team finally finds out who she's married to
Hotch -> fluffy semi established relationship, fools in love kinda thing with a twist -> sneaky courtroom bathroom quickie ->developing relationship, protective hotch, stay the night fluff -> fluffy, developing relationship morning at work fluff

Abigail Borin -> daddy smut. pwp
Amelia Sheherd -> developing relationship super fluffy cuteness ->blooming flirtation fluff
As for series:
Alex Blake has one: fluffy, hurt/comfort
Rafael Barba: one spicy, fluffy one -> one mainly fluffy, sorta poly!barhoun harvard au style mini series
Heather Dunbar: -> three, all spicy fluffy, one with a bit of h/c -> one political thriller that's poly heather x jackie x reader
Hotch: -> 2 fluffy, semi spicy ones
Rita Calhoun -> 4. 2 AU's that are mainly spicy with a hint of drama. 1 mega fluffy. 1 fluff, hurt/comfort
Emily Prentiss -> one mainly fluff with a hint of thriller
One that's a CM and SVU crossover but i haven't figured out details and pairings yet!
I've also been going through prompt lists recently like i did when i first started writing to find ones that stand out to me and then assign them to character/see if anything sparks a good idea in my head. I either haven't been getting requests recently, or they're ones that have ONLY been the prompt and it hasn't sparked anything. I also deleted a bunch of stuff that was in my WIP folder cause it had been sitting too long without any work being done on it cause again, no ideas on how to flesh things out.

Hi! I decided to make this post as I am looking for other 21+ muns to start up some Grey's Anatomy 1x1's on discord! Right now I am only looking to write a couple of ships that I have the most muse for and I will play either character within the ship!
I don't really have much in mind when it comes to plots, but I am only on season 11 and so the storylines will most likely be set around that time. I am most definitely open to discussing some plots and see what we can come up with!
I do have rules on my pinned post. Smut is welcomed but not necessary and I prefer when the plot isn't only surrounding it. While I do typically write a few paragraphs per reply, if you prefer to write shorter replies, I'm happy to match.
Ships I am wanting to write:
Amelia Shepherd x Arizona Robbins
Derek Shepherd x Meredith Grey
Addison Montgomery x female oc (has to be age appropriate)
Addison Montgomery x Meredith Grey
If you're interested, please either like this post or dm me and we can talk!

Surprise
Heyy Omelia-Fans :-) I am so so sorry that the Lexiemelia-Fanfiction took so long! I have been very busy and also it was kinda hard for me to write Lexiemelia, because as you know I usually write Omelia. But I hope you´re still gonna like it!
„I´m gonna remove a giant tumor tomorrow.“, Amelia announced when she joined Lexie in the hallway. „Oh that´s great!“, Lexie replied. „And I want you to assist.“, Amelia added and Lexie widened her eyes. „Really?!“, she asked excited. „Yes!“, Amelia smiled, „So are you in?“ „Oh my god yes! Of course I am!“, Lexie answered. „Great! Soo… you should come over tonight...“, Amelia suggested. „Uh- what about Meredith and Derek?!“, Lexie asked confused. „For work. Were gonna discuss the steps.“, Amelia said firmly. „Oh right, yeah. We´re totally gonna do that.“, Lexie agreed and nodded. „And they´re not at home by the way.“, Amelia said before she walked away. Lexie stopped walking and tilted her head. „Discuss the steps.“, she said to herself and a little grin swept over her face.
3 hours later, Amelia was at Meredith´s house and waited for Lexie to come. The door bell rang and Amelia let Lexie in. „You...look hot.“, she said as she saw her girlfriend in thight black jeans and a slightly cropped shirt. „You look hot too.“, Lexie smiled and leaned forward to kiss Amelia. After some seconds Amelia stopped her grinning. „So let´s talk about the surgery.“ „Right… Well, I...“, Lexie stuttered. Amelia tilted her head as she read Lexie´s mind. „You want to operate without knowing the steps tomorrow?“,she asked. Lexie shook her head slowly. „No! No, of course not. Let´s talk about the surgery.“, she answered and sat down at the table.
„Step 1?“, Amelia asked 1 hour later. „Craniotomy.“, Lexie answered. Amelia nodded. „Step 5?“ „Injection of the fluorescent label.“, Lexie said. Amelia continued until Lexie named her every single step. „Great. I think we´re done.“, Amelia said smiling. „We are?“, Lexie asked. „Yep, you´re prepared and you´ll do great tomorrow.“, Amelia answered and put away the scans and books. Then she turned around and looked into Lexie´s eyes. „Let´s start with the fun part.“, she smirked and kissed Lexie. „You´re making me crazy.“, Lexie moaned between the kisses. „That´s the fun about it.“, Amelia laughed and pulled Lexie towards the couch. She put off her shirt and threw it away. „I love you Lexie.“, she moaned. „I love you too.“, Lexie answered and moved closer to Amelia.
„What the hell?!“, a voice said suddenly. Amelia and Lexie freezed in their position and looked at each other. Amelia turned her head slowly and saw Meredith and Derek. She opened her mouth but nothing came out. „Amy?“, Derek asked still in shock. „I thought you were with Callie and Arizona tonight.“, Amelia said. „Well, apparently we´re not. Sofia is sick. What are you doing?!“, Meredith asked. „We discussed a surgery that we´re doing tomorrow.“, Lexie tried to explain. „Lexie! You´re not helping.“, Amelia whispered rolling her eyes. „Yeah, that´s how I discuss surgeries with my interns.“, Derek said sarcastically. „Maybe you should get dressed before you continue, Lexie.“; Meredith said. Lexie looked down at herself and then at her shirt laying next to Meredith. She stood up feeling all eyes on her and grabbed her shirt. „Look, it´s not how you think it is.“, Amelia started. „I think we should sit down and talk.“, Derek said. „What was that?!, Meredith asked determined. Lexie and Amelia looked at each other. „We´re together.“, Amelia said. Meredith raised her eyebrows. „Wait, wait...“, Derek replied overwhelmed. „Yeah, we´re together.“, Lexie confirmed and smiled slightly. „Like...really together?! Since when?!“, Meredith asked. „A few months...“, Amelia said quietly. Meredith and Derek stared at her and Lexie. „What´s the matter?! We´re together, we love each other, that´s it.“, Amelia said. „But why didn´t you tell us?“, Derek asked still taken aback. „I don´t know… This is new to us, too. I guess we just wanted to wait until we were sure...“, Lexie said. „Okay wow, that´s a lot of information.“, Meredith said. „Yeah, maybe I should go now.“, Lexie stated and stood up. „I´ll see you tomorrow.“, she said to Amelia, who nodded. „Well, I think I´m gonna get some sleep now.“, Amelia said and left, too. Meredith and Derek just looked at each other helpless. „Let´s get the kids.“

If there was something better than a large group of adults singing 90’s and 80’s pop songs out of tune in a large closed room she could say what it would be. Ever since she got over the shock from the surprise, everyone got comfortable and ready to scream on the microphone, of course Shells was first and Kylie Minogue was her choice, singing Supernova at the top of her lungs as if she was Kylie herself.
Beatrice was in the middle couch with Rooster by her side, his arm wrapped around her shoulder as she just watched everyone talk amongst each other. Marina,Derek and Cynthia never met the Dagger squad or Penny, Mav and Amelia, but they were talking as if they’ve been friends from ages ago. Beatrice just held her own beer bottle between her hands, enjoying the cool glass against her warm palms with a smile on her face.
She was still trying to wrap her head on how Rooster not only organized this - Evelyn said it was his idea and she was just the one who organized everything, talking to him for input - but managed to keep it from her for so long. She had no idea, she couldn’t even imagine something like this was in his mind. Honestly she just thought they’d come to the karaoke bar, sing some songs, eat some chicken wings and then go somewhere else.
But no, no she was getting the executive treatment with the large room, decoration all over the walls, premium playlists that she had no idea it even existed and the whole birthday package. Her brain, that was just now finally understanding that this was the real deal, that this was how she’d spend her thirtieth birthday, whispered in her ear that she had to have a talk to Bradley about something special.
Something that she’s been avoiding and now she is decisive on it, she wants to marry him. She didn’t care if it’s too short of a time, she didn’t care if there were more things that ‘should’ happen before they tied the knot. She did not care, she loved this man more than she ever loved anyone else. No one, especially not he who shall now be named, ever did the things Bradley did to her.
And he did because he wanted to! He did because he knew she’d like it, he did because he wanted to see her happy! And she was happy, she was so happy that the butterflies never stop flying inside her stomach when they are together, or even when they are apart for that matter. Now that she was able to make herself understand that she is deserving of this love, his love, everything looked so much clearer, like a fog was lifted.
Bradley was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve when it came to her, he was never shy about his compliments, about his affection, he wanted her to know how much she meant to him. Beatrice was still looking at him, with heart in her eyes, watching him chat with Coyote who was sitting next to him, but she couldn’t understand what it was about even from this up close.
That is until he broke the conversation and turned to face her, his smile widening when he noticed she was already looking at him, “Hey, gorgeous.” he coos, pulling her closer to his side, “How are you enjoying your birthday night?”
“I’m loving it already.” her eyes shine like stars when she looks at him, like the most precious gems in the world. She is so in love with him she didn’t even know how to react, “Thank you for doing this for me,Roos.”
He gives her half of a shrug, as if it was no big deal, “You deserve a big celebration.” was all he says and she could translate it as ‘you are important, I see you as important and worthy’ and it took all of her for not to cry in front of everyone. Instead she chose to smile more, pressing her chin to his shoulder so she could support her head.
“I still appreciate it.A lot.” she says, her cheeks reddening under the light make up, which added to the peach colored blush on her face only intensified the color. Bradley leans down to kiss her forehead, smiling at her pleased humming, “Are you going to sing too?”
Bradley’s lips remain on her forehead when he answers, “That depends.” he pulls back, “Will you be the Jennifer Warnes to my Bill Medley?” if Beatrice could blush even more than normal, she would. She wasn’t expecting him to suggest that but she wasn’t really complaining. She gave him a small nod, “I mean, not exactly, we don’t have to sing I’ve Had the Time of My Life if you don’t feel like it.”
“We can sing Backstreet Boys then.”
“Hey,” he scolds with a smile, making his girlfriend giggle on his shoulder, “I’ll have you know they are a lot better than New Kids on the Block. Their songs have more soul in them.”
From afar, her siblings watched this conversation with smiles on their faces, Michael lifting the bottle to his lips, seeing his sister surround herself in a little bubble that only had Bradley in it, no one else mattered and he couldn’t say she should be blamed for wanting it. Marina neared Michael's ear, the sudden wisp of air making him jump and glare at her, “Don’t do that.”
“I needed to call your attention.”
“Tap my shoulder like any normal human would do.”
“But that’s not fun.” she smirks once he grumbled in annoyance, her eyes turning back to where her little sister was, “Look at her Mike, she’s so happy. I’ve never seen Bea like that before.”
Michael, after glaring at his sister for a few more minutes, turned to look to where Beatrice was, hugging Bradley’s arm, with the most serene smile on her face, she was in pure bliss. “She is very happy, I told that to everyone.” he muttered, “Brad is a cool guy and we all agree with it, ain’t that right Leo?” he slaps his brother on the back, making Leonardo almost choke on a piece of fried chicken, with Cynthia gently rubbing his back so he could recover quickly, “Just give it a few months, soon enough they’ll get hitched.”
He makes sure to keep those words quiet enough for his siblings to hear, everyone else was busy talking or singing on the karaoke machine to pay attention but he didn’t want to make Beatrice nervous on her birthday. Marina narrowed her eyes at him, not believing what he was saying just yet. “Really?”
“Yes.” Michael says with a smirk, holding his beer bottle up in a cheers movement, as if to celebrate his own ‘premonition’ “You’ll see, give it a few more months.”
“I think you are just saying that so you can call yourself the cool uncle again.” Leo’s voice is a bit hoarse because of the sudden intrusion in his throat minutes before, “Which makes no sense.” Michael tilts his head to his brother’s direction,a pleased and smug smile on his face as he tips the beer bottle on his lips, the cold beverage falling down his throat and into his stomach with his eyes still on Leonardo’s. “Don’t drink beer looking at me, it’s creepy.”
Michael chuckles with amusement, but he knew deep inside he was right. It was so clear to see just by the way those two looked at each other, how Bradley would always have a hand or his arm around Beatrice and admire her when her gaze was somewhere else, or how Beatrice would snuggle close to his side and his arm, almost wanting to meld together, interlacing their fingers with her thumb rubbing up and down the side of his hand. It was cute, sickeningly cute, it was almost rom-com material.
Beatrice having someone like Bradley and Bradley having someone like Beatrice was very rare. Both of them had their own issues, both of them had not the greatest time with relationships, both of them had some conflict with people within their families - except Rooster’s was…a bit more intense than Beatrice’s - and both of them weren’t looking for romance when they found each other.
Not to mention, they were from completely different paths of life. Beatrice would’ve have never met Rooster if it wasn’t because of her job at the Hard Deck, hence why she was so protective and caring about the bar: not only it gave her a brand new start in life, away from her family’s bubble and into an independent life she so wished, but it brought her many friends that she couldn’t see herself without.
She loved the Dagger squad because they are not only Rooster’s closest thing he had to a family, but because they were always so nice to her. She had Penny and Mav and Amelia too, she had Shells - who was pretty much the one responsible for all of this, if she hadn’t offered her the job, Beatrice would’ve never met Rooster either-, she had Evelyn, she had the girls from college.
She tried reaching into the depths of her mind, trying to remember a time where she felt so free and fulfilled but she couldn’t find it. Not like she is right now, and it was a really exhilarating feeling, one that she didn’t want to lose, nor she felt she actually would lose it. No, this was something she’d have for a long time, maybe forever. Of course it wouldn’t be perfect all the time but…it wouldn’t be terrible, it’d be doable and she’d go through it.
The more she thought about it, the more she thought about her relationship with Rooster, the more she was certain that she wanted to grow old with him. Her nonna said once that her nonno Massimo was the ‘one that made her heart feel like a marching band’ and she knew when she saw him at a town square that she’d marry him, she’d marry him and have kids with him. Beatrice asked how she knew and her nonna just said it’s a ‘warm feeling, like a blanket around your heart’ that shows it.
And she felt that with Brad. She could see her future with him, she was excited to have a future with him. Moving in together was one step, a huge one, that would only grow into something more over time and she was more than glad. Beatrice’s hand holding his squeezed just enough to make him look down at it, his attention moving from Payback’s and Fanboy’s awful version of Katy Perry’s Hot n’ Cold “You okay?” she nods, cheek pressed on the colorful sleeve of his Hawaiian shirt, long lashes fluttering as she blinked, “Enjoying yourself?”
“Yeah, a lot.” she says with her smile widening, once again bright shining eyes looking up at him. There was nothing more that he enjoyed than seeing Beatrice’s green eyes like that, “I’m having a lot of fun.” Both of them made a face as Fanboy’s suddenly sharp - and very out of tune - part in the song came up, followed by painful groans from everyone inside the room.
Bradley holds his palm against his ear, adding pressure to it for a bit before he puts his hand back down, the tinnitus finally passing, “You want to try singing after? If we don’t lose hearing before we do?” Fanboy tossed a ‘fuck you’ following the song’s rhythm.
She just laughs, then shakes her head, “No, not yet.I’m fine for right now, I’m just enjoying everything quietly, you know?” She looked down at their joined hands, his so much bigger than hers, almost engulfing her whole palm, but they were so incredibly soft, she knew how much he took care of himself and his hands weren’t any different. They were just the right amount of soft and rough if she was being completely honest, “But I’m loving it.”
Rooster hums with a smile, bringing her hand up to kiss the back and the mid-knuckle, “Good.” is all he says, dropping his hand back down so their palms would be resting on his thigh. Beatrice’s enamored stare never left, in fact it intensified the longer she looked.
God,I am really going to marry this man. I hope he doesn’t get weirded out if i mention it soon after we move in, I don’t think he will…right? No, he’s not. Roos isn’t like that. Maybe he’s thinking the same thing as I am. We’ll see.
As the night went on and every single person joined in the karaoke - bonus points for the performances of Evelyn singing Bring Me to Life, Amelia singing Good 4 U and the outstanding performance of Phoenix singing Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 with Bob as her backing vocal - she was a bit surprised when she took a quick look at her phone to check the time. They’ve been in there for a while…and she just remembered she had to use the bathroom, “Roos,I’ll be right back.” she whispers to not disrupt Marina and Derek singing Californication. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
“Do you want me to go with you?”
“Oh, no no, it’s not too far from here.” she whispers, kissing his pouty lips with a smile, “I won’t take long.” Beatrice gives him a small wave before she walks past the large doors that separated the room from the crowds on the outside, and there were several near there. It took her a few seconds to find a way through the sea of people and then wander to the bathroom area, avoiding bumping into the groups the best she could. It’s so wild how from inside the room they could hear nothing from the commotion outside, it was only their voices in there and nothing else.
Beatrice finally reaches the bathroom, sighing in relief when she wanders in, giving a polite smile to the other women washing their hands in there before she disappeared in a cabin. It wouldn’t take too long and while she was in there she could hear the two women talking by the sink.
“Did you see the group of guys that just entered? I think they are part of the Dubois family.”
Beatrice’s ears perked up at the surname, lifting her head higher so she could hear a bit better.
“I think it’s only one of them though? The short one with the red shirt, he’s a Dubois.”
“The others are his friends then?”
“I think so, you know how the Dubois family sort of disowned him,I don’t know how he got the money…what was his name again? Eric?”
No.
No, there was no way she heard that, there was no way that Eric was there. There was no way it was the Eric she knew. What were the chances? No, no it was just a mistaken identity type of situation…but then again, even if it was Eric there was no way he’d know she was there right? No…unless he followed them, but how would he know Rooster’s car? No, no she couldn't have these thoughts on her birthday!
Because it wasn’t Eric, he wouldn’t– he doesn’t like karaoke! Why would he be there? It made no sense! But now the seed was planted in Beatrice’s brain, now the doubt that ‘what if it was Eric’ kept repeating itself over and over inside her mind. If it was him…would he even try to talk to her? Part of her wished he did so Rooster could scare him, but no, no she didn’t want Rooster to get involved like that.
She didn’t even know if it was really Eric, the chances were minimal!! There was no way, the girls were just mistaken! Beatrice took in a deep breath before stepping out after flushing the toilet, the two women were still there talking when she neared the empty sink to wash her hands. They weren’t talking about the DuBois anymore, thank God, which probably meant that it was not Eric after all! It wasn’t! So that was it, that was it, it was done! She could relax now, she didn’t have to get worried on her birthday.
Beatrice finishes washing her hands with a weight lifted from her shoulders, smiling at her reflection, drying her hands and then stepping out of the bathroom. She hesitated, looking around for a second, then over her shoulder behind her but she couldn’t see anyone, “It’s silly.” she chuckles, shaking her head while rolling her eyes, “They were wrong, that’s what it was, no need to worry so much.” she repeats the words until she gets back to the room, opening the door and being hit with Michael and Coyote singing Chandelier at the top of their lungs.
Of course Michael would immediately grab someone else to sing with him that wasn’t part of their family, of course. Rooster immediately turns his head in her direction when she walks back inside, his lip quirking in a smirk, following her with his eyes as she takes her place next to him again, “A lot of people out there, huh?”
“God, so many.” she laughs, running her fingers through her hair “Did you hear them when I walked through the door?” he nods, this time drinking soda instead of beer, “Yeah, it’s like a full on batallion out there.Did I miss something?”
“Besides your brother’s amazing one man show?” Michael was still giving all of his blood, sweat and tears in his performance, “Nothing much.” his eyes give her a surreptitious look, pursing his lips while turning the glass bottle on his hand, “So…when are we going to step over there and give them all a show?” his girlfriend’s cheeks heated up, a sudden jolt of fear forming inside her stomach as she thought about it.
But what the hell.
She’s 30 now. She’s surrounded by her friends and a few of her family members…biting her lower lip in thought, she waits until Michael is done singing to clench Rooster’s hand, “How about now?” she questions, pushing herself to her feet and tugging his arm, “If you want to.”
Rooster just laughs, setting the soda bottle down “‘Course I do.” He follows Beatrice to the middle of the room as soon as Michael sits back down, while everyone is curious to what they are going to do they all knew to give them space, especially Beatrice. Even if some complained that Rooster singing was cheating since he was the best of them all. But he ignored the taunts, standing shoulder to shoulder with Beatrice as they went down the playlist in hopes to find one specific song that called their attention, “Ohh, what about this one?”
“I like it.” she smiles with her cheeks still dusted red, holding the microphone with both hands, “You ready?”
“Baby,” he tosses the mic on the air and catches before it fell, bringing it closer to his lips so his voice reverberated around the small room, “I was born ready.”
–
What was supposed to be a duet between the two of them, singing Baba O’ Riley with a lot of hand motions - and a windmill guitar arm motion from Rooster during the song - suddenly turned into a full concert when everyone joined in. It really reminded her of the wedding, with Rooster surrounded by her family members and playing the piano, she wondered if that was just how he was: he brought everyone together with his whole energy.
Beatrice was so happy, she was ecstatic, even sweating a bit by the time they were finished. They wanted to do more songs but Penny announced it was nearing midnight and Beatrice didn’t even have her cake yet, prompting Evelyn to immediately leap out of the couch where she sat next to Jake and run outside before anyone could stop her. When her friend returned, a bit out of breath from running so much, she had a large cake in her hands, dark chocolate pieces covered the outside of the cake, with large cherries in the middle forming a circle.
Beatrice smiles just watching everyone clean the small table the best they could to give space for the main event. As soon as Evelyn puts it down, Shells pulls number candles - out of nowhere,- a 3 and a 0 with golden glitter, placing them right in the middle of the cherry circle before she pulled out a lighter - again out of nowhere- and light them up, “There you go Bumblebea! Make a wish!”
“Shouldn’t we sing first?”
“No time!”
Beatrice laughs softly, looking down at her cake, at the orange flames on the candles and then back at her surroundings. She had no complaints about tonight, about her thirtieth birthday that she honestly thought would go by unannounced without much to do. Instead she had a surprise party that her boyfriend organized alongside one of her best friends, with people that she cared. Her parents’ reasoning of taking care of Gabriel and Bianca that night made a lot more sense after they wished her happy birthday over the phone…even if they weren’t there, she was still elated.
So, sitting back down next to Rooster and putting her hair aside so it wouldn’t catch on fire, she closed her eyes to think of a wish. She had no idea what to wish for, to be honest, she got…a lot of things she wished. Beatrice inhaled quietly, a small smile curling over her lips as the wish finally came up to surface, warming her cheeks even more as she thought about it. She leaned closer to the cake, pursing her lips and blowing a quick breath over the flames only to open her eyes and see them go out with a thin line of smoke curling up in the air.
The group cheered, clapped and hooted towards Beatrice, with Rooster pulling her close to himself to kiss her warm cheek over and over, “Happy birthday, baby.” he coos, “Now let’s eat the cake because I’m starving.”
“Still?”
“Oh you know me,” he lowers his eyes down her body, “You know I’m always craving something.” she shuddered and wondered if he’d be able to notice it, biting her lower lip with a smile. Evelyn, being the mom friend that she was, took on herself to cut the pieces and hand them over to people - with Beatrice being the first of course - and swatting Jake’s hand when he tried to get a paper plate she was taking to Bob.
Not only was the cake delicious - and her favorite flavor, black forest cake - but it was so big everyone could take a piece home. The karaoke bar was kind enough to give them styrofoam boxes they could take home since the cake wasn’t from the bar itself. Bea walked out of the room with everyone following, her hand clasped around Rooster’s as they made their way out of the bar, it was less empty than hours before making it a lot easier to march down the staircase.
It didn't take long for them to reach the parking lot across the bar - the one in there had no space when they arrived -, there were fewer vehicles than earlier since it was already past midnight. Beatrice sees the blue Bronco before Bradley does, gesturing towards it as the Payback,Fanboy, Halo, Eliza and her siblings go their separate ways to reach their own transportation, thanking them for the night.
Beatrice waves them goodbye, still talking to the ones who were left keeping her eyes on the Bronco…until her smile drops when she sees a blue Corvette there, not too far from Rooster’s truck. No…it was a coincidence. Except it wasn’t, because Eric was outside his car of choice, talking to a group of his friends, probably the ones from inside the bar, “Oh no.” she whispered, holding Rooster back, “Roos, it’s Eric.”
Her boyfriend’s eyes immediately searched around the parking lot to check where Eric was and part of him was elated he was so close to his truck. He moves his jaw with his nostrils flaring just a bit, “We just have to keep to ourselves, baby. It’ll be fine.” but he did keep Eric within his view while leading Beatrice to the Bronco, the others following close behind since their cars were within the same area too.
But the sound of footsteps immediately made Beatrice’s ex lift his head, meeting her eyes and then traveling up, up, up until he saw Rooster’s brown ones narrowed at him. The two men stared at one another, with the pilot keeping his hand on Beatrice’s waist to protect her. The sudden silence makes the others behind them look in the same direction, with Shells hissing under her breath, “Big headed motherfucker, what is he doing here?”
“It’s just a coincidence,”Beatrice whispers quickly, “We just have to go home.” but she kept her eyes on Eric too, unsure how to react when he pushed himself from the door and started to walk forward. Something that everyone, especially Rooster, wasn't really happy with. Eric’s eyes move from Beatrice to Rooster, then to the others behind them, looking back to his group of friends who were on standby in any case.
What was he planning?
Beatrice was practically glued to Rooster’s side when Eric stops a few meters away, “Hi Bea-”
“FUCK OFF YOU SHITHEAD!Mmf!!-” Evelyn slaps a hand over Shell’s mouth while her arm wraps around her middle to keep the blonde from launching herself at their friend’s ex. Eric gives Shells a terrified look that he tried to play it off with a laugh, but everyone could see how he jumped when he heard her voice.
“Hi, Eric.” What was he doing? Was he drunk? He didn’t look drunk.
“Going out with your friends?” What was this weird small talk he was doing? Also, was he blind to the fact that Rooster’s arm was still around her waist? “It’s your birthday,I remember.” That sentence alone made the flags inside Beatrice’s head snap up in alert. Either Eric was trying to play some sort of character to his friends or he completely lost his mind.
“Not only with her friends, dude.” Rooster’s deep voice sounded deeper with how angry he was getting, he was clearly much taller than Eric was, broader, bigger, his bicep alone was the size of Eric’s head, “And we are on our way home so, if you don’t mind.”
But Eric had a bit of a Napoleon complex, because he wanted to appear tough in front of his friends and in front of this…really tall pilot that was unimpressed by him. “I just wanted to say hi, it’s been a long time since we spoke.”
“For good reason.” This time it was Beatrice who replied, her own eyes narrowed at his smug face, “We don’t have anything to talk about.”
“Come on Bea.” he tries smiling charmingly at her but it has no effect. What the hell was he thinking? “We can be civilized about this, right?” as if she was being unreasonable? Rooster’s anger was going up notch after notch just by Eric’s presence, “It’s just a simple talk.”
“I just think it’s weird you show up when she’s having her birthday night out with her friends.” Evelyn’s voice cuts, her brown eyes glaring daggers at the short man, “And waiting outside like that. Almost as if you were waiting or something.” that snaps up another flag inside Beatrice’s mind, Shells mentioned something about it and there was also the issue of Damon…
Rooster straightened, making him appear even bigger than he was, his glare never wavering, “Roos,” Beatrice’s soft voice stops him, followed by a hand in the middle of his chest, “Don’t, it’s okay.”
“I just want to talk Bea–”
“Talk about what,Eric?” The sudden rise in her voice, the complete shift from the soft cooing to Rooster to a snarlin tone to her ex made everyone stop - and Shells smiled gleefully behind Evelyn’s hand, “What? What do you want to talk about? Why now? I don’t want to talk to you. I stopped wanting that after we broke up.”
Eric’s friends sitting by his car looked at one another, some of them snickering quietly much to Eric’s complete dismay, “I just think we ended things in the wrong spot–” but Beatrice cut him off again, this time with an indignant scoff.
“Oh fuck you.” the pure disgust and venom dripping from her words seemed to burn through her ex’s body, “Now? Now you want to talk about it? When I have someone else? When I have Bradley?” she gestured to the taller pilot with a hand, moving it from his head to his feet to show emphasis on how different the two men were. “ What would there even be to talk about? I don’t get you, nothing you say will make me suddenly go ‘oh breaking up with Eric was a mistake!’ because it wasn’t.”
Eric was getting red in the face, from embarrassment and anger, clenching his fists by his sides. He was outnumbered, he knew that from Bradley alone he’d be outnumbered, the pilot could easily knock him out with a flick of his finger but he had too much pride to admit, “Why? Is it because now you can pay for his fucking company? We both know you can’t pull shit like this off. We both know you can only pay to be loved, bunny face.”
Three things happened in a matter of seconds.
One: Beatrice’s brain screamed upon hearing that horrible nickname again.
Two: Bradley’s arms left her waist, disappearing from around her body.
Three: Eric had a bloody nose and her hand was really hurting.
Wait.
Beatrice could only watch her ex writhe on the ground, holding his nose with both of his hands and then look down at her now reddening knuckles. “Bea!” Rooster’s voice startles her, the shock now making the pain she couldn’t feel before dart all the way up her arm, her fingers trembling because of the force of the punch, “Bea, holy shit, are you okay?”
“YEAH KICK HIS ASS!!”
“Shut up Shells!!”
“Michelle Regina!”
Beatrice could only look down at her violently shaking fingers, the red blooming under the skin, then back at where Eric was in the ground. There was an anger, a fury that was more than what Eric did to her in the past. How dare he say those things about Bradley? About someone who was so much better than he was? “...no.” she finally replies, clenching her fist again, “I’m not finished with him–” Rooster has to hold her back before she lunges back at Eric, who was now crawling on his hands away from them.
“Shit did you see that punch?”
“Yeah!Eric had no chance, man!”
“SHUT UP ALL OF YOU!!” Eric tries to sound angry but he’s absolutely terrified of Beatrice, struggling to stand on his feet because of how strong that punch was, “S-Shut up!”
Beatrice was seeing red, trying to shrug Rooster’s strong arms from around her body, but he kept her in within his hold, “Bea, Bea calm down–”
“Piece of shit, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” she screamed, still trying to leave Rooster’s arms, the rubber soles of her boots hitting the gravel below, scratching, trying to get some friction to gather enough momentum and launch herself at her ex, “You have no right to say anything about him! You are a coward! You are a coward Eric!” she didn’t feel the tears sliding down her face when she snarls the words out, “I fucking loathe you, you-you disgrace of a human being! You are disgusting! You wish you could be like Bradley is, YOU could only wish because you’d never get it!” Eric’s nose is bleeding, even through his fingers, hissing in pain and growling out a ‘no!’ when someone asks to call the police because of what happened.
He could never admit he had his nose broken by his curvy ex, that’d be humiliating for him. Eric doesn’t reply to Beatrice’s accusations, he doesn’t even try to, he just backs away into the Corvette, shoving some of his friends out of the way and immediately reversing out of the parking lot, leaving the group there, wide eyed and alone now. Beatrice was still breathing hard when the group of guys turn to look over, one of them holding his hands up in defense,”Hey, so uh…w-we had no idea he was planning this.”
“Yeah, yeah! He just told us to come- and–” but they stopped talking at Rooster’s dangerous glare, the obvious threat to get the hell out of there palpable, “W-We are going!Yeah, nothing happened out of this! H-He just fell down on the pavement!!” they scurry out of there before anyone changes their mind, disappearing into the night.
It was surprising no one else called the police because of the noise, maybe they just didn’t care since this was a loud street overall and it was just another night for them. Beatrice makes a noise in her throat, leaning back against Bradley’s chest, looking down at her jolting hand with her eyebrows furrowed, “Ow.” is all she says.
“Shit,Bea,” Rooster finally lets go of her when he feels she’s calmer, gently grabbing her bruised hand to check how bad the damage was. It'd definitely hurt for a few days, he was sure. Besides Shells cheering from the back - with Bob trying to calm her down- Evelyn,Jake,Mav,Penny and Amelia all surrounded the two to check on it themselves.
“Let me see,” Pete says gently, much like when she sprained her ankle months back, “Damn, kiddo, where was this power punch hiding?” he jokes, still holding the fist up to the light, “Nothing is broken, all you need is some ice.”
“I can open the bar and get some there.” Penny says immediately, pulling the keys out of her purse, “Come on.”

All for My Girls (Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader)
(Not my gif!)
Masterlist
———————
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader.
Summary: Spencer missed calls and texts from his wife. Something important happened and he needs to rush to the hospital.
Word Count: 1494.
Warnings: None. Just a short self-indulgent fluff fic.
A/N: Spencer Reid as a father. It’s all we need.
——————–
Spencer was dozing off in that uncomfortable plastic chair in the middle of a hospital's waiting room. It was 3 in the morning. His eyelids are heavy from exhaustion. When he arrived home that night, her wife wasn't there. Weird. She hadn't told him about going out.
He thought a little in case he forgot something. But he never forgets anything, even less if it was something related to her. Spencer never forgot a birthday, an anniversary, a particular date, an appointment in all the years they were married. Nothing. What did he miss now?
When he pulled his phone from his jacket, he noticed that it was off. He didn't see it before. That made sense to him. Maybe his wife called him, and he didn't answer because his phone was dead. Oh, God! What if something terrible happened?
Spencer rushed to the nightstand where the charger was and plugged his phone on it. It took longer than five minutes for his phone to return to life.
He unlocked the screen and saw a lot of messages and missed calls from his wife.
"Spencer Reid, grab your ass and come to the hospital right now! It's time!" it read in the last message. Spencer put on his coat again and rushed to the hospital. How he could be so negligent! He knew the baby would come any time, and he wasn't prepared? 'It's a shame, Spencer!' He scolded himself.
Spencer arrived at the hospital past 10 pm. When he made it to the waiting room, he saw Morgan and Savannah waiting.
"Hey, guys!" Spencer greeted, gasping for the long run he made from the entrance.
"Pretty Boy! Where have you been?" Morgan asked. "(Y/N) texted us, and I tried to call you. You never answered! What happened man? We were worried," Derek questioned. Spencer shook his head, catching his breath. Clearly, his physical condition was not optimal for that run.
"I - I'm sorry. My phone gone dead. Where - where is she?" the genius doctor inquired.
"She is in the delivery room right now. She is in labor," Savannah replied.
"What? Damn it! I came too late! I couldn't even see her!" Spencer complained.
"We almost didn't. When we got here, (Y/N) was just entering the room with the doctors and nurses. But she was okay, man. We have to wait now, you can’t get in," Morgan stated.
Spencer started pacing the waiting room... waiting. Reid felt sad that he hadn't seen the calls and messages on his phone before. Perhaps he could have arrived in time to see the birth of their little girl. He was anxiously now, waiting next to Morgan and Savannah.
The clock marked 11 pm, midnight, 1 am... and there was still no news. Spencer knew it could be a long time to wait, but he secretly hoped that their little girl wouldn't put up much resistance to get out. Although he didn't blame her, what could be more secure and calm than her mother's womb?
Spencer recalled all the times he dreamed of having a baby. He remembered the times when with (Y/N) talked that he wanted a girl. A little girl to teach her, spoil her, and love her. He dreamed with a little girl as a (Y/N)'s carbon copy. With her eyes, her smile, her personality. He wanted a girl so so much.
When they both were at the doctor's office to know the baby's gender, he was so nervous. Looking at the screen and seeing a tiny bundle moving on made them both cry. And when the doctor said that they were expecting a girl, Spencer almost passed out of pure and utterly emotion.
Spencer was so excited and happy that he did everything he could to make (Y/N) comfortable and supported during her pregnancy. He helped her in everything. Spencer went to all the doctor's appointments. He stayed late at night, helping his wife sleep in a comfortable position. He woke up early to make breakfast. Of course, he read all the books about the pregnancy he could.
In the nights before sleep, Spencer was accustomed to reading a story to his little girl. She started to recognize his voice: every time Spencer talked, the baby moved or kicked. (Y/N) assured him that she would be a daddy's girl. And she was. And she still is. Twenty-six years later, she's his little girl yet.
A commotion brought Spencer out of his thoughts. Hank Morgan appeared in the waiting room with a huge grin that could illuminate all DC.
"It's a healthy little girl!" he yelled. Morgan was the first to hug his son, who now became a father. Spencer looked at him with watering eyes and speechless. The same happened to him when his daughter was born.
After he hugged his mother, Hank moved toward Spencer.
"She is okay. A little tired, but she is okay. And your granddaughter is beautiful and healthy. They are waiting for you," Hank assured Spencer, pointed to the room where his - now two - little girls were.
When Spencer walked into the room, it was like going back 26 years, only this time, a third little person was included in the scene. When his daughter saw him arrive, her eyes lit up. She was holding a small wrapped bundle in her arms. His wife was standing next to the bed, looking at him with a smile on her lips.
"Hi dad!, come over here, I want to introduce you to someone," she said, whispering. Spencer couldn't help but see those beautiful eyes lit up despite the exhaustion after hours of labor. Those eyes his daughter inherited from his wife. He approached slowly and plastered a kiss on his daughter's forehead.
"Hello Pumpkin. I'm so sorry I was late..." Spencer apologized.
"Let's see if you worry about having your phone with enough charge next time," (Y/N) scolded him.
"Mom, don't be rude to Dad. He's already here." Spencer could barely pay attention. Now his eyes were on the little person sleeping in her mother's arms. "Dad, let me introduce you to Amelia Morgan Reid, your granddaughter," she said solemnly.
Because, of course, as Spencer had to learn over the years, children grow and make their lives. Her little girl grew up, fell in love, and made her own family. And with Derek Morgan, his friend for years, they were now joined by their own children. The result of that love now slept peacefully in his daughter's arms.
"Can - Can I hold her?" Spencer asked shyly.
"Sure you can, Dad," she said, handing him the little girl wrapped in a cozy blanket.
When Spencer held his granddaughter in his arms, time stopped for him.
Where did his mind go? To the moment when he held her daughter for the first time. It was a rainy day, and (Y/N)'s water broke at the same BAU. It was Morgan who drove the car to take them to the hospital. Spencer was with (Y/N) the entire time. Encouraging her between each contraction, kissing her temple, and letting her squeeze his hand throughout the process. When the cries of the newborn flooded the room, Spencer swore that at that moment, his life had changed forever. So it was. Holding her daughter for the first time, he promised her always to be for her. Spencer promised to give her all the love in the world and always support her. And Spencer Reid has kept his word.
Now holding his granddaughter, Spencer couldn't help but repeat his vows.
"My little girl. You don't know how happy I am to have you in my arms. You don't know how happy you will make this family. I know that I'll have to share your love and that maybe I won't be your favorite grandfather. I cannot compete with Grandpa Morgan in many things, but I can assure you that I will be there for you when you need me. And the day I leave this world, I will continue to take care of you. Just like I'll continue to take care of your mom and your grandmother," Spencer whispered as Amelia stir and opened her little eyes. A big smile crept on Spencer's face.
"I see you both are already having your first serious conversation," her daughter mused. Spencer turned and walked over to the bed to lay her granddaughter in her mother's arms.
"The same conversation I had with you the day you were born," Spencer replied. "I'm proud of you, Pumpkin," Spencer praised. His daughter smiled.
"Thanks, dad. For everything," she said, snuggling Amelia into her arms again.
"Always. All for my girls," Spencer declared, holding his wife's hand and placing a soft kiss on his daughter's forehead.
And what Spencer Reid said was entirely right. He has given everything. And he will continue doing everything in his power for his wife, daughter, and now for his granddaughter—everything for his family.

“They say that abandonment is a wound that never heals. I say only that an abandoned child never forgets.” ~Mario Balotelli
Working at the BAU meant you had a rather large family. And when your husband left you and your three-year-old daughter, you had the best support team to help you. Your boss, Aaron Hotchner, gave you time off to process and take care of your daughter Amelia. Penelope Garcia, ever the angel, helped you find care for Mia. And when the divorce papers arrived at the office, you could have sworn Derek Morgan was ready to commit murder. And of course, you had seven shoulders to cry on if you needed it.
When you came in to work with a venti coffee from Starbucks and a wrinkled sweater, the last thing you expected was to be hit in the head with a film canister.
“Ow, Jesus,” you winced.
“Sorry, (Y/N)!” Reid said. “I was just showing JJ and Garcia some physics magic.” You set the canister on Spencer’s desk and flopped into the chair at your own. “You okay?”
“I’m fine,” you waved him off. “Just didn’t get much sleep last night.”
“What happened?” JJ asked.
You sighed and set the Starbucks cup on your desk. “Mia was up crying all night last night.”
“Is everything alright? Is she okay?” Penelope asked.
You gulped down the hot coffee, not caring as it burned your throat. “She kept saying she missed her daddy. She kept asking me when he was coming back,” you said, your throat tightening.
“Aw, pumpkin,” Garcia said, rubbing your shoulder. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine,” you said, rubbing your eyes. “I dropped her off at my brother’s, he’s pretty good at cheering her up.”
“Guys, conference room,” Hotch said, leaning on the railing outside his office. “Now.”
~
“Okay, so we’re all in agreement,” JJ said while everyone was gathered in the bullpen. “No one mention anything about what today is.”
“Why, what’s today?” Rossi asked. He was still new to the team, and didn’t know you when you were married to Sean.
“(Y/N)’s ex-husband is getting remarried,” Emily said. “She’s still a little sore about the whole thing.”
Derek scoffed. “I would be, too. Man abandons his wife and daughter out of nowhere-”
“Guys,” Spencer said, his eyes going to the elevator. You walked off, but stopped when you saw the team gathered.
You sighed. “Yeah, okay, I’m a profiler too, guys,” you said. “I’m fine, don’t tiptoe around me.” You walked over to your desk and threw your bag down.
“You know,” Penelope said, walking over to you, “going on a date might help you get over it.”
You rolled your eyes. “I’m not going out with anyone, Pen.”
“Oh, come on! I know the perfect guy for you. He’s a friend of Kevin’s and-”
“Penelope, I love you, but you’re crazy.”
“Give me one good reason why you can’t,” she said.
“I’m not going to put effort and energy into someone and let Mia get attached to him only for him to decide it’s too much work.” You pulled a stack of files closer to you. “Mia is my whole life, I can’t let her get hurt like that.”
“Okay, that’s a pretty good reason,” Garcia conceded. “I still think it might help you move on. And stick it to Sean.”
Spencer looked up from his paperwork, watching you and Garcia. After Garcia walked away, Spencer cleared his throat.
“So, uh, how are you doing? I mean, really, how are you doing?”
“I’m fine,” you told him, shuffling through your paperwork. “If Sean wants to be with that college dropout with a temp job instead of someone with multiple degrees and a stable career, that’s his choice.” You grabbed your pen and scribbled your signature on the top paper.
Later in the day, you came back to your desk to see your favorite mug sitting on your desk, filled with your favorite tea. Next to it was a sticky note with Spencer’s messy scrawl.
Thought you might need a little pick-me-up :)
You smiled at the smiley face in the corner before sitting down and picking up your mug, looking around for Spencer. When you couldn’t find him, you settled for thanking him when he came back to his desk.
Spencer, meanwhile, was in Garcia’s den, ranting.
“I mean, how can anyone leave someone so… so wonderful? I’m telling you, Garcia, if I had someone as amazing as (Y/N), I’d never let her go.” He sat in silence for a minute. “If I had (Y/N) I’d never let her go.” He groaned and thumped his head on the desk.
“Oh, you poor lovesick puppy,” Garcia said, patting his head.
~
The team was gathered in the conference room. Spencer looked around.
“Where’s (Y/N)? She’s never late to a briefing.”
“She’s staying back from this case,” Hotch said. “She called me this morning.”
“Is everything okay?” JJ asked.
“Well, I didn’t ask for too much detail, but her daughter’s sick.” He turned to JJ. “The case?”
Thankfully, the case was fairly open-and-shut. The team was back after only two days. Hotch decided to give them a long weekend, the team could fill out the paperwork on Monday.
“Bye, Spence,” JJ said, waving to Spencer before heading out of the office.
“Bye, JJ.” Spencer pulled on his coat before draping his scarf over his shoulders. He walked down to the metro station and found himself getting off at the station by your apartment. He walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.
You pulled it open, your hair in a wild ponytail, half of it down anyway. Your cheeks were flushed and you were in ratty clothes. He still thought you looked beautiful. “Spencer. What are you doing here?”
“Hotch said you were out because Mia was sick. I thought I’d step by to check on you.” He held up a shopping bag. “I brought some soup and kid’s cough medicine.”
His stomach fluttered when he saw you smile. You opened the door wider and ushered him in, taking the bag from him. Spencer followed you inside the apartment, which was a mess of kid’s toys, old case files, and coffee mugs.
“Where’s Amelia?”
You sighed, pulling the boxes of medicine out of the bag. “I finally got her to go to sleep. Poor kid was up all night.”
When you heard footsteps from the hallway, you and Spencer turned to see your nearly-five-year-old rubbing her eyes and dragging her teddy bear blanket on the floor behind her, her fist clutched around the bear’s neck.
“Hey, sweetheart. Why are you up?” you asked her, setting the can of soup you were holding on the counter.
“M’ tummy hurts,” she said. Then she saw Spencer and her face lit up. She dropped her blanket and ran over to him. “Spencer!” He scooped her up.
“Hi, Mia.”
“Careful!” you warned, “She’s already having trouble keeping food down, don’t swing her around too much.”
“Why are you here?” she asked him, her arms around his neck.
“Well, your mommy told me you were sick so I wanted to stop by and help you feel better,” he explained.
“Mommy, can Spencer stay and watch Hercules with us?” she asked.
You smiled. “Well, I guess that’s up to him,” you said.
“Please!” Mia begged him. “Please, Spencer?”
Spencer smiled at the girl in his arms. “Of course I’ll stay and watch it with you.”
“Yay!” She wiggled out of his arms and pulled him towards the living room, pulling the VHS tape out of the box. You and Spencer sat on the couch, Mia wiggling in between the two of you and handing you the remote.
Mia fell asleep in between you and Spencer before Hercules even arrived on Earth. She snuggled into Spencer’s side, snoring because of her stuffy nose.
After a while, Spencer noticed you shaking next to him. At first, he thought you might have been laughing, but then he heard you sniffle.
“Are you alright?” he asked you, his voice low to avoid waking Mia.
You shook your head, wiping a tear from your face. “I wasn’t supposed to do this alone,” you whispered.
“What do you mean?”
You looked at Mia, who was fast asleep, clutching her blanket in her hands. “I wasn’t supposed to do the whole parent thing alone.”
“Well, you’re not alone,” Spencer said. “You have us, the BAU. And you have your brother, right?”
“Yeah, but it’s different. Sending Mia to Nick’s when we have a case is different than having a partner to be there with you, raising her with you.” You sighed and slumped against Spencer’s shoulder. You yawned and your eyes drifted closed
How could anyone leave these wonderful girls? Spencer thought as he watched you and Mia sleep soundly.
~
“I know, I know Mia. I promise I’ll be there. I might be late, but I’ll be there,” you said into your phone as you and the team boarded the jet to return home from a case. “I promise, Mia, Mommy’s gonna be there to watch you dance. I have to go, okay? Give Uncle Nicky a hug for me.” You blew a kiss before hanging up your phone.
“Everything okay?” Spencer asked you as you flopped into a chair, securing the buckle for takeoff.
“Mia has a big dance recital tonight. I promised her I’d be there.” You buried your head in your hands.
“Hey, I’m sure she’ll understand if you can’t make it.” He gripped your hand, giving it a comforting squeeze.
“You don’t get it, Spence,” you said, still holding his hand. You didn’t seem to notice, but it made his heart flutter. “This recital is a big deal. She deserves to have her mother there, not just Nick and his boyfriend.”
Spencer looked at his watch. “Well, we might not land in time for the start of the recital, but you should be able to make it.”
You smiled at Spencer and let go of his hand, looking out the window of the jet.
~
Mia and her dance class were ready to walk onto the stage. Mia was fully expecting to only see her Uncle Nick and his boyfriend Pete in the crowd for her. When she walked onto the stage and looked out, her smile was brighter than the lights on the stage. You’d made it. And Spencer was with you. And Aunt Penelope and Uncle Derek. And Aunt JJ and Aunt Emily. And Uncle Aaron. And Pop-Pop Dave.
She waved her little arm like crazy to the group, her smile so wide her cheeks hurt. The group waved back and the music started up.
When the recital ended, Mia ran up the auditorium aisle and wrapped her arms around you, squeezing your neck.
“You made it!” she squealed.
“Well, I promised you I would.” you said, pulling her back to look at her in her pink tutu, her hair pulled into a tight, shiny bun.
“And we even had time to stop and get these,” Penelope said, kneeling down and handing Mia a bouquet filled with pink flowers.
Mia smiled and hugged Penelope. “Thanks Aunt Penny!”
Derek scooped her up and put her on his shoulders. “Why don’t we go get some ice cream, princess?”
“Yay, ice cream!”
Derek started running out of the auditorium, Mia giggling from his shoulders. You chuckled and shook your head. The group left the auditorium. You waved goodbye to Hotch and Rossi, both opting out in favor of sleep. Your brother and his boyfriend also headed home, leaving you with your BAU family.
You smiled at Derek and Mia, your girl on his sturdy shoulders, pointing at the ice cream flavor she wanted and Derek promising her whatever she wanted.
“Hey, if you get her on a sugar high, you’re gonna have to run that energy out of her, Morgan,” you told him. “Mia, you can have one scoop and two toppings.” You sat down with Spencer, Emily, JJ, and Penelope at the table you’d picked out.
You looked at the people surrounding you. Spencer was right. You weren’t alone. Your team is your family. And they chose to come watch your daughter’s dance recital with you.
~
You walked into the bullpen and flopped into your desk chair.
“Oh no,” Morgan said, coming over to your desk. “That’s the face of someone who had a bad date. Spill.”
You sighed and picked at the muffin you’d brought for breakfast. “It started well,” you said. “Then he found out I was a single mother and he got all weird. He ended up going to the bathroom,” you said with air quotes, “and not coming back. Stiffing me with the bill.”
“Oh, that’s rough,” Morgan said. “Your first date in years and that happens.”
You shook your head. “I’m glad I found out on the first date. Whoever I date needs to love Mia just as much as he loves me. My daughter is my world. I don’t want to waste time on someone who doesn’t want to put in the effort to love her, too.” You grabbed your mug off your desk and stood up. “I’m gonna go grab some coffee.”
“She’s dating again?” Spencer asked no one in particular.
“Sounds like she is, kid,” Derek said. He saw how Spencer was looking at you as you added sugar to your coffee. He was about to open his mouth to say something when Hotch called everyone to the roundtable.
~
Spencer woke up with a start. He looked around, remembering he was on the jet, on his way to the latest case. He leaned forward and rubbed his face.
“Enjoy your beauty sleep there, Reid?” Prentiss joked.
“Sorry, I was- I was dreaming.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “We were at a crime scene and-and Mia,” he pointed towards you, “Mia was there. I was try- I was trying to get her out of there but-” He shook his head.
“Should we get back to the briefing?” Hotch said, refocusing the group.
~
The case was one with kids. And it wasn’t pleasant. After days of hunting the unsub, you finally brought her into custody. While Hotch and Morgan interrogated him, you stepped outside, into the cold Nevada night air.
You sat on the steps of the precinct, looking up into the clear, starry sky. Your arms were wrapped around your torso as you shivered.
You heard someone come out of the precinct and sit next to you. You looked over to see Spencer.
“Are you alright?”
“Those little boys…” you shook your head. “I saw what that mother was going through and I-” you paused to clear the lump in your throat, “I just kept thinking of my Mia.”
Spencer’s hand twitched as he debated wrapping his arm around your shoulders. Eventually, he settled for draping his purple scarf around you. When you looked at him, he said, “You looked cold. Don’t stay out here too long, you’ll catch hypothermia.”
You wrapped the scarf tighter around you, smiling at the ground.
~
You had a rare weekend off, and you were spending it playing Princesses with Mia.
“Princess Mommy, please bring out the Princess Snacks,” Mia said, waving her glittery wand in the air.
“Here you go, Princess Amelia,” you said, setting the apple slices and a glass of milk on the coffee table. “Princess Snacks.” You were about to sit down and join her when there was a knock on the door. You walked over and unhooked the chain before opening the door.
“Why, it’s Sir Spencer of Quantico!” you said, and Mia ran over to the door. “Hello, good sir knight.”
Spencer smiled and leaned into the game. “Hello, Your Majesties. May I request entry into the royal dwelling?”
“Well, that is up to Princess Amelia Eloise,” you said. “Princess Amelia, should we allow this brave knight into our castle?”
“Please, Princess Amelia Elosie, allow my entry to your castle.” Spencer knelt down and kissed Mia’s hand.
Mia looked over Spencer, pretending to think about it. She extended her wand and tapped Spencer’s curls.. “The brave knight is allowed to come in and play with us.”
Spencer bowed. “Thank you, Princess Amelia.”
You smiled and shook your head as Mia ran back to the fort made of pillows and blankets in the living room. “What’s up, Spence?”
He sighed and rubbed his face. “I just got back from Vegas.”
“Is everything okay? Is your mom alright?”
“Yeah, she’s fine. I was looking into a murder case from my childhood.”
“Spencer, look at the book I got from the library!” Mia said, running over to Spencer with a book in her hands. “It’s about a boy who’s a demigod like Hercules!”
“Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief,” Spencer read. “Wow, this is a big book.”
Mia looked up at Spencer, her eyes wide. “Can you read it to me?”
“Of course I can, princess,” Spencer said.
“Yay!” Mia grabbed his arm and dragged him over to the couch.
Spencer sat with Mia and read about half the book to her before you interrupted, noticing her drooping eyelids.
“Okay, Princess Amelia,” you said, “It’s well past your bedtime. Go brush your teeth and get ready for bed.”
Mia started to pout. “Five more minutes, Mommy? Please?”
“Mia, you were falling asleep on the couch. Go get ready for bed.”
“Okayyyy. You’ll come tuck me in, right?”
“Right. Now go brush your teeth.” Mia scampered down the hallway and you leaned back on the couch, sighing. “Thank you, Spence.”
“For what?”
“Just, being so kind to Mia.”
“Are you kidding me? I love little Mia.”
“She loves you too, you know,” you said with a smile. You got up from the couch. “Oh, before I forget,” you said, walking over to the coat rack by the door, “here’s your scarf back.”
“You know what?” Spencer said when you handed it back to him. He wrapped it around your neck. “Keep it. Purple looks good on you.” You felt your cheeks heat up as Spencer shrugged on his coat. “I’ll see you Monday, (Y/N).”
~
“Girls’ night!” Penelope yelled as she and Emily returned to the table with drinks for the four of you. It was the first time you were all to just have fun since before Foyett started torturing Hotch.
“So,” Emily said as she took her seat and passed a cocktail your way, “what’s going on between you and Reid?”
“What are you talking about?” you asked, taking a sip of your drink.
“Oh, come on. You’re wearing his scarf. His favorite scarf. And he volunteered to watch Mia tonight.”
“He’s- we’re friends. We’re just really good friends. If anything, I see him as a brother.”
“See, there’s where you’re wrong, Sugar,” Penelope said, popping the cherry from her cocktail in her mouth. “I’ve seen the way you look at Nick, your actual brother, and the way you look at Spencer. It’s not the same look.”
You shook your head. “You guys are ridiculous.”
“(Y/N/N), it doesn’t take a profiler to see you love him,” JJ said.
You plugged your ears. “La la la la, I’m not listening!”
Emily laughed and gently tugged your arms away from your head. “Come on, why won’t you admit it? We all know it’s true.”
“Nope, nope, no it’s not.” You looked at Emily and pointed at her. “Don’t profile me!”
“For what it’s worth, he loves you too. I mean, he volunteered to watch Mia for you tonight. Hell, he gave you his scarf. He loves that thing.”
“It’s as good as a proposal,” Garcia joked. You groaned and hid your face in your hands.
“I’m gonna get us more drinks,” JJ offered, getting up from the table. She patted your shoulder on her way to the bar.
~
You tried to be quiet when you got home, but you were tipsy. Almost drunk but not quite. You unlocked the door and smiled when you saw Spencer sitting on your couch, reading in the dim light of a lamp.
“Hey,” you tried to whisper, but it came out louder than you thought.
“Hey. How was girls’ night?” he asked, closing his book.
“Oh, so fun,” you said, flopping onto the couch next to Spencer. “I don’t remember the last time I went out and actually had fun.” You smiled at Reid. “How was Mia? Was she good for you?”
“Of course she was. She was a little angel. We read some books, we watched some movies. I ordered pizza for us for dinner. She ate three slices,” he said with a laugh. Spencer noticed you staring at him. “What? Is everything okay?”
You cleared your throat. “Yeah, yeah, everything’s fine. Thanks for taking care of Mia. I’m sure you’re tired,” you said.
“Oh, it was no problem, really,” Spencer said, getting up and shrugging his coat on. “I was just happy to help you out.”
In a moment of drunken confidence, you grabbed Spencer by the tie and pulled him into a kiss. When you let him go, Spencer’s face was red.
“I’m-I’m gonna head out,” he stuttered. “I’ll see you Monday, (Y/N).”
You woke up in the morning to Mia bouncing on your bed, reminding you about her playdate. Your head was pounding, but you helped Mia get ready for the day. While she was eating breakfast, you called Penelope.
“Hey, (Y/N),” Penelope said when she answered.
“Pen, I screwed up. I messed up so bad. I messed up so, so bad.”
“Whoa, slow down. What happened?” she asked.
“I kissed him.”
“Kissed who?”
“Spencer.”
“What? Oh, my god!”
“I know, I know. I screwed up!” You groaned and ran your free hand through your hair. “Now he’s gonna be all awkward on Monday because I kissed him and he’s not gonna want to hurt my feelings and-”
“Hey, hey, Sugarcube. You’re rambling,” she said. “Take a breath.”
You sighed. “Sorry. I just, I can’t do it, Penelope.”
“Why not?”
You looked at Mia, who was coloring while eating a bowl of cereal. “The last time I loved someone, he abandoned me and Mia. I can’t go through that again. And I can’t put Mia through that. She’s old enough now that she’d understand. I can’t do that to her.”
“Yes, but (Y/N),” Penelope said, “this is Spencer we’re talking about. He loves Mia. Even if things didn’t work out between the two of you, he would still care about you, and Mia.”
You smiled at your daughter as she put her bowl in the sink. “Yeah, maybe you’re right.”
~
Spencer was at JJ’s, and he was pacing so much she was afraid he’d wear a hole in the floor.
“I know she was drunk, and she probably didn’t mean it, but god, JJ,” he said, “kissing her was-was, well, amazing.”
“Did you talk to her about it?” she asked him.
He shook his head. “I can’t do that. What if- what if she regrets it? I don’t want things to be weird between us. She’s my best friend.”
~
“We’re gonna have to double up,” Hotch said as the team sat in the lobby of the Alaskan inn.
“I’m not sleeping with Reid,” Morgan said.
Garcia grabbed his arm. “Dibs.”
“Dave, you and I can share a room,” Hotch said.
“I’ll room with JJ,” Emily offered. “Which just leaves (L/N) and Reid.”
You glared at her. This was going to be interesting.
When you got to the room, Spencer cleared his throat. “I’ll, uh, I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“What? Are you kidding me, Spence? Your knee is still healing. You’re sleeping on the bed.”
“(Y/N)-”
“Don’t argue with me, Spencer. I am a mother to a 7-year-old, I will win.”
The two of you stood staring at each other in a silent showdown before you heard Penelope yelling. You grabbed your guns before taking off to find her. You found her kneeling next to the latest victim. You sat with her for a while, before convincing her to get some rest.
“Hey,” Spencer said when you got back to the room. “I know, um, I know you offered to take the floor, but, uh, what if- what if we share the bed? I don’t like the idea of you sleeping on the floor.”
You were so exhausted you didn’t protest. You just crawled in next to Spencer.
~
When Spencer woke up, his arms were wrapped around you and your head was resting on his chest. You were snoring quietly and you looked so peaceful. But he knew you’d wake up soon, and he didn’t want you to freak out. He tried to wiggle out from underneath you without waking you up. Unfortunately, after he slid your head off his chest, you woke up.
You sat up and rubbed your eyes. “What time is it?”
“Only 6:30,” Spencer said. “I just wanted to get an early start. I’ll wake you up if you want to get a little more sleep?”
“No, no it’s fine,” you said with a yawn. “Once I’m up, I’m up. A perk of being a parent, I guess.” You stood up from the bed and stretched. Spencer couldn’t take his eyes off you. You looked at him. “What?”
“Nothing, nothing,” he said. “You’re just… really really beautiful.” You looked down at the ratty old t-shirt and sweats you were wearing as pajamas, feeling your face heat up. Spencer cleared his throat. “I’m gonna head, uh, I’m gonna get a shower.”
When he started walking away, you grabbed his arm. “Wait, Spence.” Spencer turned to face you. You were keeping your eyes away from his face and your weight was shifting from foot to foot, something Spencer knew you only did when you were anxious. “Um, about the night I kissed you…”
“Don’t worry about it,” Spencer said, not wanting to hear you say what he thought was coming. “You weren’t in your right mind. It’s fine.” He tried to head to the bathroom again.
“No, Spencer.” You pulled on his arm, pulling him back towards you. You looked him in the eyes. “I- oh, god,” you whispered, looking away from him and swallowing the lump in your throat.
“(Y/N)?” Spencer pushed a piece of hair away from your eyes. “What is it?”
You looked at Spencer’s beautiful hazel eyes, filled with concern for you. “Fuck it,” you muttered to yourself before putting your hands on the sides of Spencer’s face and pulling him in, kissing him. After recovering from his moment of shock, Spencer wrapped his arms around your back and kissed you back. When you pulled away, you rested your forehead against Spencer’s.
“That was… um…”
“We should probably get ready to meet the team,” you said. “Before Hotch sends a search team for us.”
Spencer was smiling like a madman. “Yeah. Um, you-you go first.”
Of course the team noticed the change in the two of you, but everyone was too focused on the case to bring it up. Until they all boarded the jet.
“So, what’s been going on with you and our resident Mama Bear?” Morgan asked, sitting across from Spencer on the ride home.
Spencer flicked to the next page of his book. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Come on, Pretty Boy, you’ve been smiling at each other all day. What’s going on?”
“Nothing’s going on. We’re friends, Morgan. You smile at your friends.”
“Wait a minute,” Emily said, turning in her seat to join the conversation. “Morgan’s right. You were much too chipper for the case. Even for you. And you,” she said, turning to you. “You were wearing that scarf the whole time, even when we were inside. And you’re still wearing it.”
You shrugged. “It was cold. I don’t know what to tell you, Em.”
“You know,” Hotch said, looking up from his case file, “if the two of you are planning to enter a romantic relationship, you need to file the proper paperwork with HR.”
~
JJ was leaving the BAU. Not maternity leave or medical leave, but leaving. Hotch was struggling to find a new liaison.
You knocked on Hotch’s door.
“Come in.” You pushed the door open and sat across from his desk. “Is everything okay, (L/N)?”
“I think I have a solution for you,” you said. “I can take over as the liaison.”
“(L/N)-”
“Sir, I know how JJ’s job worked. I’ve been a part of this team for years, I was here even before she was. I know how to communicate with the families, and the press. I know how to deliver our profiles.”
Hotch looked you over. “We can give it a trial run. If it works, you’ll keep the position.”
You nodded and thanked him before walking out of the office.
“What did he say?” Spencer asked, handing you a mug of coffee and kissing your temple.
“He said we’ll do a trial run and if it works, I’ll have the position permanently.” You took a sip of the coffee Spencer handed you.
After a few cases, Hotch agreed to give you the position. And with the position, came your own office.
“Hotch, I can’t take this,” you said, looking around the room. “This is JJ’s office.”
“It was JJ’s office. It’s yours now.” Hotch rested his hand on your shoulder. “I’ll let you settle in.”
You walked around the office, which was empty of all things JJ. It was like she was never even there. You sighed and set the box from your old desk on top of your new one.

Mia was struggling to do her homework, the math perplexing her. She groaned and slammed her pencil down. “Math is stupid!” she yelled to no one.
“You okay, Mia?” Spencer asked, setting his book aside.
“I don’t get it. Multiplication is hard.”
Spencer got up and walked over to the kitchen table, pulling a chair next to Mia. “Well, let’s look at it step by step, okay?” Spencer sat with Mia, working through each of the math problems with her, and helping her calm down when she got frustrated. When the worksheet was finally finished, Spencer said, “See? That wasn’t too hard, was it?”
Mia shook her head. “I guess not. Thanks, Dad.”
A lump caught in Spencer’s throat. Mia didn’t seem to notice. “Uh, you’re-” he cleared his throat, “you’re welcome sweetheart.”
Neither of them knew you were in the hallway when Mia called Spencer “dad”. You felt tears well up in your eyes, hearing the absolute adoration for Mia in Spencer’s voice.
Later that night, long after Mia went to bed, you were lying next to Spencer in bed. His arms were wrapped around you.
“So, Mia called me Dad today,” Spencer said.
You shifted so you could look at Spencer. “Yeah, I heard. You know, she really loves you.”
Spencer noticed the tear rolling down your cheek. He brushed it away with his thumb. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
You shook your head. “I just… After Sean left, I worried about Mia. I-I worried about her not growing up with a father figure, but seeing her with you, I know I don’t have to worry anymore. She has you, and I know how much you care about her. I know you won’t leave us.”
Spencer kissed your forehead. “Never.”
~
You were getting ready for JJ and Will’s wedding when someone knocked on the apartment door.
“Mom!” Mia called.
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” You called back, hair pins in your mouth as you tried to secure the bun on top of your head. You took the last pin out of your mouth and secured it in your hair. “Spence, sweetheart, can you grab my heels? The burgundy ones with the little bows on the back?”
You opened the door and your blood ran cold. “Sean.”
“(Y/N), who’s at the door?” Spencer asked, coming into the living room, your shoes in his hands. “Oh. Hello, Sean.”
“Dr. Reid.”
“What are you doing here, Sean?” you asked, the exasperation clear in your voice. “I haven’t heard from you in nearly 7 years, and suddenly you show up at my door?” You crossed your arms over your chest.
“Well, I-” He stopped, seeing Mia standing behind Spencer. “Is that her?”
“We’re in a hurry, Sean. What do you want?”
“I need to see her.”
“You lost that right when you abandoned us.”
“Mom?” Mia walked over to you. “Who’s he?”
Sean huffed out a laugh. “I’m your dad, Amelia.”
She looked him over. “No you’re not.”
“What-? Of course I am.”
Mia shook her head. “No. You’re not. A dad doesn’t just leave. I have no memories of you. But you know who’s in all of my best memories? Spencer. He’s at every dance recital, every school play, every awards ceremony, everything. He was there when I was afraid of the thunderstorms, he’s there for me when I needed help with school. He’s always there. Spencer is my dad.” She looked at Sean with an anger Spencer saw reflected on your own face “You’re no one to me.”
You cleared your throat. “There. You saw her, you talked to her. Now leave, Sean. We have a wedding to get to.”
After Sean left, Spencer looked at Mia. “You really… You really see me as your dad?” Spencer asked her. Mia nodded and Spencer pulled her into a tight hug. “I love you, Mia.”
“I love you too, Dad.”
“Any fool can have a child. That doesn’t make you a father. It’s the courage to raise a child that makes you a father.” -Barack Obama

Fika
Fika: (Swedish origin) a moment to slow down and appreciate the good things in life
Summary: When Spencer Reid works a rough case there’s only two people in the whole world that can make him feel better.
Word Count: 3.3k
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Warnings: brief mention of case details (the usually criminal minds type stuff), implied death of a child (not Spencer and reader’s), other than that its fluffy
——
The case had been brutal, a grueling two weeks only made worse by the scorching heat of the Arizona sun. To be fair, all cases involving children weighed heavily on the team’s shoulders and hearts. But when presented with a mop of curls and pair of big brown eyes so breathtakingly similar to the ones he held so dear to his heart, it was safe to say Spencer Reid was unraveling at the seams. When he closed his eyes all he could see was that little girl’s face. All he could hear was her mother’s sobbing, a heartbreaking wail that rattled through his very soul, as J.J. delivered the horrendous news that they had been too late. They had caught the sick bastard and he would never see the light of day again but that didn’t erase the fact that their baby wasn’t coming home.
Later that night they had stumbled on to the jet, all bleary eyes and bruised bodies. ‘Exhausted’ didn’t even begin to cover they way they all felt. Rossi and Emily were asleep before take off and Morgan was nearly there ten minutes into the flight. Hotch was quietly doing paper work specifically to avoid sleep and the horrible dreams he knew this case was going to bring him. J.J. was FaceTiming Will and their boys, assuring them she would be home soon with new a baseball cap for each of them.
All the while Spencer didn’t know what to do with himself. He tried to read first but when the words of his favorite book failed to bring him any solace he tried to sleep. When he proved too fitful and the leather seat too stiff, he decided to try watching a film on his iPad. After a solid twenty minutes of not even hearing what the actors were saying he gave up on the film too, shucking his headphones off and stuffing them back into his satchel. Knowing full well he wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the board and it’s pieces, he didn’t even bother pulling the tiny chess board out of his bag. With a defeated groan he leaned his head against the seat and tried to go to sleep for the second time. Just as the cool tendrils of unconsciousness started weaving around him, he felt more than heard someone settle into the seat next to him.
“How are you holding up?” J.J.’s voice was soft and tender, a tone she probably used to sooth Henry and Micheal when they were upset. Normally the motherly tone would grate on Spencer’s nerves but truth be told, at the moment he welcomed its comforting cadence. She watched as he swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing in this throat and he was quiet long enough that she thought he was attempting to ignore her. After a few heartbeats, his eyes opened and his head lulled to the side so that he could look at her.
“They just looked so much alike J.J.,” similar to her own, his words were quiet but his voice wavered and cracked like all the grief and anxiety from the past two weeks were just now starting to bubble to the surface. J.J. attempted, and failed, to keep her face poised and collected. They all noticed the uncanny resemblance between Julia Hodges and Amelia Reid almost as quickly as Spencer did himself. He had managed to keep a calm front for the sake of the parents but he felt like there was something burrowing in his chest and attempting to rip him apart. He just simply could not stop imagining his family in place of their’s.
“There was this one case we worked a few years ago in Milwaukee,” she paused, trying to collect her racing thoughts before continuing, “It was a trafficking ring that we stumbled on. We thought it was just a kidnapping until we got there. The little boy looked so much like Henry; they even sounded the same.”
“I remember him,” Spencer’s voice was still a quiet rasp, “His name was Oliver Moore and he was five years old. Like Henry.”
His friend nodded slowly, her focus had turned to the table in front of them, her fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns onto its wooden surface. Even with that case being far behind them, it had been almost ten years ago now she realized, she still had nightmares about it. Unlike Julia Hodges though, they had gotten to Oliver Moore just in the nick of time it had seemed. But the conditions they had found him in... J.J. didn’t even know how to put it into words.
She nodded her head, blonde hair sliding over her shoulders and shrouding her face. “I kept in touch with his mother for a while. I just couldn’t let it go. How much he reminded me of Henry, I mean. I still have nightmares sometimes that it was Henry in his place.” Brushing her hair back behind her ears, she turned her attention back to Spencer then with eyes glassy but a small smile on her lips. “There are just some cases that you can’t shake. They feel sticky and slimy and even though we catch the bad guys and sometimes we’re able to save the people they were trying to hurt, it still feels like there’s this stain on your heart. And after a while its like all you can see in the world is the darkness and death. You just need to go home and hold her, Spencer. Love on her and kiss her and hug her. It will remind you that there are still good things in life, that there is still some innocence out there.”
He tried to smile but he knew it looked more like a grimace twisted on his face. J.J. gave his hand a sympathetic squeeze before standing and going back to her original seat beside Derek. This time when Spencer tried to fall asleep he succeeded.
——
Six hours and forty seven minutes later, he was pulling into his driveway with the nagging thought that sometimes he hated his job. He loathed having to be away this long. Truly, he really did. It made him feel like he never saw his family anymore, like he was missing all the important milestones in his daughter’s life. Like her fourth birthday party for example. There were still some balloons tied the the mailbox at the end of the drive and what looked like confetti and streamers all over the porch. He had called that morning to wish her a happy birthday and assured her he was going to bring a special surprise home for her but it did nothing to combat the guilt eating at his stomach for not actually being there.
He tugged a hand through his already unruly hair and let out a deep sigh as he climbed out of the car. As quietly as he could, he unlocked the door and walked inside the dark house, quick to disarm the alarm as to not wake his sleeping wife and daughter with its insistent beeping. With a somewhat renewed energy at the thought of seeing his favorite girls, he bounded up the stairs two at a time, carefully minding the extra creaky ones, then padding down the hall to his daughter’s bedroom. Eternally grateful for the well oiled hinges of the door, Spencer pushed on the white wood and Amelia’s bedroom door swung open silently. The covers were rumpled and pushed back but there was no curly headed little girl amongst them. For a harrowing second, Spencer felt his heart seize in his chest, his grip on the doorknob turning his knuckles bone white. But then he saw her slumped into her beanbag chair beside the tall white bookshelf, her favorite book opened on her lap. He couldn’t help the smile that split his face as he entered the room and scooped her up into his arms, the book falling to the carpeted floor with a soft ‘thud’.
He hugged her tightly to his chest, swaying back and forth ever so slightly. When everyone found out that Y/N was pregnant, the other parents on his team had told him that there was nothing compared to the love he would feel for his child. Spencer never doubted that he would love his children, not even for a fraction of a second. But what he felt on the day Amelia was born, and every day after, was like nothing he had ever experienced before. A tiny hand came up to rest on his cheek, pulling him away from this thoughts, and he turned his head to find a pair of sleepy brown eyes looking up at him. “Missed you daddy,” she yawned, her eyes already fluttering shut again.
He pressed a kiss to the crown of her head and whispered against her hair, “I missed you too angel. So much.” She smelt like her mother’s shampoo he noted with a smile. He carried her back to her bed and tucked her in the way she liked before placing another kiss on her forehead.
Just down the hall his own bedroom door was already opened, a soft yellow light spilling out into the hallway. Y/N must have waited up for him. Or tried to he realized with a small laugh as he saw her sitting almost exactly like their daughter had been just moments ago. With a book splayed open in her lap and her reading glasses slipping down her nose as her head lulled to the side, she was slumped against the headboard fast asleep. Spencer sat down at the foot of their bed and took his shoes off, tossing them in the general direction of their shared closet. Deciding to forego showering and brushing his teeth, he dressed for bed quickly and moved to turn off Y/N’s bedside lamp. Careful to note what page she was on, he slipped the book from her hands and moved it to the nightstand before reaching for her glasses.
She stirred then at the feeling of his hands near her face, she jumped slightly as her eyes slowly blinked open and a drowsy grin pulling at her lips when she realized it was him. “You’re home,” she rasped, her voice raw from sleep and the day of wrangling a house full of four year olds. Cupping her cheeks in his hands, he leaned down to press a soft kiss to her mouth. “I’m home,” he repeated with a smile, feeling the weight of anxiety slowly start ease from his chest. “How was the ballerina dinosaur party?” He didn’t even try to ask that with a straight face, every time he even thought ‘ballerina dinosaur party’ he practically erupted into a fit of giggles. But his daughter had gotten her stubbornness honestly and was determined that was to be the theme of her birthday party.
——
“Mia, have you thought about what kind of birthday party you would like to have?” He asked her as he flipped her pancakes on the hot griddle. When he didn’t get a response, he turned to look her to see she was staring rather intensely at the stack of coloring books in front of her on the kitchen table. She mumbled something then shook her head, curls bouncing at her shoulders and her little eyebrows drawing together in what her mother called her ‘baby genius face’. Spencer couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of him, “What are you thinking so hard about, baby?”
Amelia turned that precious little pout towards him then. “Don’t laugh at me, daddy. S’not nice.”
Spencer clamped his mouth shut, having to bite down on the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing again. Y/N strolled into the kitchen then with a brush, some hair ties and a spray bottle in her hands. “Yeah, daddy. S’not nice,” she echoed, turning to stick her tongue out at at Spencer before she set to work pulling Amelia’s hair into two little buns on the top of her head.
“Thank you, mama,” Mia said, flashing her mother a toothy grin.
“You’re welcome, sweet girl.” Y/N squished Mia’s cheeks and kissed her nose, earning a sweet peel of laughter. Spencer smiled at his girls as he plated the last of the pancakes and covered them in syrup. Y/N gaped at the plate when he set it in front of their daughter. Amelia, the resident sugar addict, on the other hand was practically drooling over it. “You,” she said, poking Spencer’s chest with her pointer finger, “are handling the sugar rush that’s going to give her.”
Spencer gave her a bashful smile and raised his hands in front of him, “You know all she has to do is look at me and I give her anything she wants. She could have asked for ice cream and I probably would have agreed. So really its your fault for asking me to make breakfast.”
With a playful slap to his chest she pushed past him to grab the other two plates sitting on the counter behind him. “For the love of god, Spencer Reid please do not give our daughter ice cream for breakfast. Ever.”
He laughed as he sat down in his designated seat across from his wife, and dug into his own stack of pancakes. They ate in silence for a few minutes before Amelia gasped, her fork clanging against her plate as she dropped it into the sticky sweet syrup. She was practically bouncing in her seat as she looked at her parents with wide, excited eyes. “I know what kind of birthday I wanna have!”
Clearly amused, Spencer set his own fork down and smiled at his mini me. “And what have you come up with, Mia?”
Her smile widened as she looked between her mother and father. “A ballerina dinosaur party!” The pure glee and excitement was practically radiating from her as she started clapping her sticky hands together, thrilled to no end with her clever solution to the ballerina versus dinosaur party dilemma.
“Well then, daddy and I will make that happen for you.” Y/N laughed and extended her hand out for Amelia to high five, she was clearly just as excited. Amelia slapped her mother’s hand before jumping out of her chair and running excitedly into her play room. Seconds later she came back into the kitchen, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “May I be excused, please?”
Immensely proud that the manners they were drilling into her were clearly sticking, Y/N beamed at Amelia before throwing her a wink. “Nice manners, sister! And yes you may. Go wash your hands before you play though.”
Amelia was racing off again then, calling out a muffled “thank you for breakfast!” as she washed her hands. Spencer was silent while Y/N stacked their plates and carried them to the sink. “What’s going on in that head of your’s, doc?”
“Ballerina dinosaurs-” was all he could say before Y/N cut him off.
“Are you really about to go tell that excited little girl that she can’t have a ballerina dinosaur birthday party for some scientific reason you’re about to pull out of your ass?” Knowing damn well that he wasn’t going to tell that sweet little face ‘no’ for anything in the world, she was smirking and leaning against the kitchen counter with her arms crossed over her chest.
Sliding down in his chair, he crossed his own arms and huffed out ‘no’. Y/N laughed and came around the table to sit in his lap, his arms instinctively wrapping around her waist and her’s going around his neck.
“How did she come up with that?” he wondered aloud. She might have only been three but they could already tell that she was following in her father’s footsteps, well on her way to becoming a child protege much like he was. But every ounce of her creativity came from her mother.
——
That earned him a soft laugh and a even softer, “It was really fun. We missed you though.” She took his hand in her’s and brought it up to press kisses against his knuckles. “How bad was it, Spence?”
He had spared her most of the nitty gritty details but for the most part she knew what happened. Talking it out with a third party frequently helped him, so her lending a listening ear wasn’t anything new to their relationship. The smile instantly dropped from his face and his shoulders sagged again. “Bad. Really bad,” he whispered as he stood and made his way around to his side of the bed. Y/N settled down into the covers and held her arms open to him. Spencer all but dove into her, burying his head into the crook of her neck and wrapping his arms around her as best he could given the way there were laying. They were quiet for a moment, the only sounds were the white noise maker that could just barely be heard from Amelia’s room and Spencer’s sniffles. Soft lips pressed a kiss to his temple and her hands started running through his hair, making sure to scratch his scalp the way she knew he found soothing. “Do you want to tell me about it, baby?”
He tensed in her arms but relaxed again after a heartbeat, breathing deeply against her neck. It poured out of him in a rush, in all the nasty detail he’d spared her from over the phone. Y/N’s breath hitched and her arms tightened around him when he told her how much Amelia resembled Julia Hodges, and she was immensely grateful he hadn’t told her about that part until now. “I just,” he started again after a long pause, “I couldn’t stop thinking about you and Mia.”
“Oh, Spence,” she cooed, trying desperately not to let her voice crack. “We’re okay, baby. We’re okay.”
“Can we throw her another birthday party? Just something small with the team maybe? I really hate that I missed it,” his voice was small, almost as if he was afraid she’d say no.
“Of course we can,” she laughed softly, “I’ll call everyone tomorrow and set something up.”
He smiled and lifted his head to press a sweet kiss to her mouth. A sweet kiss that quickly melted into something more as he settled between her thighs and his hands slowly slipped under the sweatshirt she was wearing. The pair were so caught up in each other that they failed to hear the soft patter of tiny feet running down the hall. The door slowly creaked open and a tiny little girl appeared, her pajamas rumpled and eyes wide. They jerked apart as Amelia called out to them. “Mama? Daddy?”
Y/N was shoving Spencer’s hands away, trying not to laugh as his fingers ghosted against her sides. “What’s wrong baby?”
“I had a bad dream,” she mumbled softly, looking down at her bare feet. “Can I sleep in your bed?”
Spencer smiled at her as he patted the space between him and his wife. Quick little feet made a mad dash for the bed and she pulled herself up with a quiet ‘umph’. Amelia burrowed under the covers, snuggled comfortably between her two favorite people in the whole world. Y/N wrapped Amelia up in her arms and Spencer turned toward them and threw his arm over them, his hand a comforting weight on his wife’s hip. Just as sleep had started to claim him, he felt Amelia start to squirm.
“Daddy?” she whispered softly into the dark room.
“Yes princess?” His voice already turning gravelly, his tired eyes opening to see his wife smiling at him over the top of Mia’s head. Both of them already knew what she wanted before she even voiced her request. And she sounded so hopeful that he didn’t dare deny her when she asked softly, “Will you tell me a story?”
He smiled and pulled his girls closer to him. “A long time ago,” Spencer started, his voice soft, “there was a dinosaur who loved to dance…”

Hey besties.
So thanks to an influx of new followers and from different fandoms and interesting requests I’ve been getting I figured it was needed to repost this.
Things I WILL NOT write for:
-Non con or even CNC
-Age gaps. (Realistic ones are fine. But i refuse to do 18 year old super genius yn who graduated Harvard already and 40+ year old character falls in love with them).
-Basically YN under the age of 30. I’m in my mid 30’s and most people in the industries that my fics involve would be in that age rage, or even older. if you’re looking under, go elsewhere.
-Underage yn’s. If you want a fic where yn is the chlld this is NOT the place.
-stories involving losing virginities. While i may write someones first experience with the the same sex, or a specific style, i do not write virgin characters
-pregnant y/n’s. It’s very rare I will accept requests involving pregnancy
-Male yn’s. Nothing against it but as a female, esp when it comes to smut I’m uncomfortable writing it.
-Same goes for medical conditions. There are certain that I am familiar with or are easier to research or I have close friends who can give insight to, otherwise i feel like I’m not doing it justice and also dont want to offend. Dm or send an ask if you have specific questions.
WHO I Write For:
(just because there is someone on my masterlist does not mean i still write for them. i only write this list.)
Law and Order(SVU/OC/ OG)
-Rita Calhoun, Casey Novak, Elizabeth Donnelly, Alex Cabot, Olivia Benson, Grace Muncy, Tonie Churlish, Melinda Warner, Pippa Cox, Sonya Paxton, Amanda Rollins, Peter Stone, Mike Dodds, Joe Velasco, Sonny Carisi, Rafael Barba, Terry Bruno.
-Ayanna Bell, Samantha Maroun
-Calex, Barhoun, Calvak, Novelly, Benhoun.
Criminal Minds:
Emily Prentiss, Derek Morgan, Alex Blake, Tara Lewis, Aaron Hotchner
9-1-1
Bobby Nash
House of Cards:
Heather Dunbar, Jackie Sharp
-Duckie (heather x jackie)
Homeland:
Elizabeth Keane
Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice:
-Addison Montgomery, Amelia Shepherd, Charlotte King
NCIS:
Abigail Borin, Anthony Dinozzo
Chicago PD:
Hailey Upton, Kim Burgess, Erin Lindsay, Kevin Atwater

The sun beat down on you on this hot summer day, the wind wasn’t providing the sufficient amount of breeze to cool off your hot skin, and families played at the park across the street with their pets. Today was a good day despite your overprotective boyfriend talking your ear off on the other line of the phone. He had asked for two boxes of police files that he took home to work on, but he conveniently forgot them this morning. Half of you thought he did it on purpose because he really wanted to see you again.
The rest of his teammates were excited you were coming to visit which is why you knew Spencer purposely forgot his case files. That man had an eidetic memory so he couldn’t forget anything even if he wanted to. Knowing what Spencer does every single day makes him a hero in your books. There was no way in Heaven or Hell that you were ever going to be in the BAU because you didn't think you had it in you to do the job correctly. You could barely hurt a fly much less see mangled bodies and blood 24/7. It’s amazing how Spencer keeps himself together due to his erratic memory and the cases he goes on.
“Make sure they’re all there. I left some cases out since I forgot to put them back in the box last night.”
“So, you wait until I arrive at the BAU to tell me this?” you joked as you opened the trunk of your car. “Don’t worry, I got them all.”
“Should I come down and help?”
“Spencer don’t worry about me. I will be up in two minutes. Chill. I love you,” you giggled before hanging up on him. Just as you were about to grab the boxes, you felt a tap on your shoulder and a man who looks like he was in serious need of psychiatric help. His hair was sticking up in all kinds of different directions, but it seems as if he tried to smooth down most of it unsuccessfully. His eyes were wide, and from one look into them, you knew he was on a multitude of medication. His clothes were dirty, and he was fiddling with his hands as if he was nervous. Alarm bells sounded in your head instantly, but you tried to keep things calm.
“Can I help you?” you asked kindly.
“Did you s-say Spencer? As i-in Spencer Reid? Dr. Spencer R-Reid?” he stuttered quickly.
“Yeah, I did. Did you need something? I can get him to come out here.”
“No, no, that’s okay. No,” he whispered. The next few events happened so quickly, you didn't even have time to open your mouth and scream for help or to call Spencer and have him and his team to come down here. The strange man reached into his jacket and produced a gun before slamming the butt of it into the side of your head. That was enough to take you down since he managed to hit you in the exact spot you hit a few days ago on the corner of Spencer’s kitchen counter when you accidentally slipped and fell. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, and the man picked up your limp body before dragging you over to his van that was parked right behind yours.
If Spencer Reid wasn’t able to protect his daughter, then he was going to take someone very close to him.
“This one’s for you, Spencer,” the man growled as he grabbed the homemade bomb he created for this special event.
“She should be up here by now,” Spencer worried as he gnawed on his bottom lip nervously.
“Kid, would you relax?”
“She hit her head the other day, Morgan, on the corner of my kitchen counter. I had to take her to the hospital for stitches. So, no, I am not going to relax.”
“At any minute now, she is going to come through those elevator doors, and—oh no,” he said when he finally spotted Spencer’s girlfriend. As soon as you came through the doors, all guns were trained on you and shouts began to litter through the bullpen. Derek whipped his gun out before training it on you, and Spencer turned to see what the commotion was when his eyes widened in fear.
“Spencer,” you cried as your body shook. Your hands were up in defense mode, but the ticking bomb strapped to your body was the reason why everyone was on alert.
“Y/N!” Spencer gasped, but Derek held him back from going to you. “What the hell happened?”
“He set this bomb to explode in four hours and told me that it’ll take you five to stop it. Please, Spencer, I’m scared,” you panicked.
“Hotch!” Spencer yelled.
“Someone get the bomb squad here!” Hotch yelled.
“Already on it!” Jennifer said as she held the phone to her ear.
“What’s going—Y/N!” Penelope gasped when she saw what was happening.
“Spencer please help me,” you cried as the tears cascaded down your hot cheeks.
The time was ticking down and it seems like time was speeding up just to give you your untimely death. A group of FBI agents was set outside the perimeter of the place no doubt to catch whoever put this on you. It was unlikely that he would still be out there, but if he wanted to see the after-effects, he would be close by.
“What did he look like?” Hotch asked you as a man from the bomb squad tried to figure out how this worked.
“H-He had d-dark hair, a-and scared ey-eyes. Please get this off me,” you shook.
“We’re doing our best to.”
“Let me be with her!” Spencer yelled at an officer holding me back.
“Please, I want Spencer. Please let him in,” you begged.
“Fine,” Hotch sighed and he got up and nodded to the officer. Spencer pushed past into the tiny corner they isolated you in. Derek, Emily, JJ, Rossi, and Penelope watched from the other side of the room with worried looks. Hotch left the space since too many people might set off the bomb too early.
“I’m right here,” Spencer said as he reached for your hand.
“Don’t touch her,” the bomb squad officer said sternly.
“He was a-asking f-for you,” you tried to keep calm.
“Who, the man who did this to you?”
“Y-yeah. I woke u-up just as he w-was strapping th-this on me. He s-said something ab-about,” you paused to take a deep breath which only turned out to be too shaky since you were so scared.
“Just breathe and tell me when you’re ready,” Spencer said in a calming voice.
“He said something about you not being able to protect his daughter and how if you can take someone from his life, he’s going to do the same,” you shook in fear.
“Hotch!” Spencer yelled when he realized who did this to you. His boss approached the corner at a safe distance before your boyfriend continued talking. “Ramirez Garcia did this to her. Remember the case where a bomber held students in a classroom hostage, and I was the one to try and talk to him, but something I said pissed him off so he blew up the classroom with the children inside. One of the kids was Amelia Garcia, Ramirez’s daughter. He blames me for killing her and now he’s trying to take Y/N from me.”
“Garcia!” Hotch snapped, and the tech analysis perked up at the sound of her name.
“Yes, sir?”
“Give me everything on Ramirez Garcia. JJ, have the police put an APB on him.”
“Right away,” Penelope said as she scurried off to her office while JJ got in contact with the head of the police department.
“Brody,” Hotch talked to the man on the bomb squad, “turn that thing off.”
“I’m trying sir, but this is very complicated. Whoever made it definitely knew what he was doing.”
“I don’t want to die,” you cried. Spencer’s heart broke at the state you were in, and he wished he could be in your place.
“You’re not going to die. We’re going to get that off you.”
“When Spencer?” you panicked. “There are two hours left and you’re nowhere near shutting it off.”
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Brody commented as he gulped nervously. Spencer looked at you before storming away, and Hotch caught his arm right before he had a chance to escape.
“Where are you going?”
“To read everything I can about defusing bombs,” he said before leaving to his desk. He was not going to let this kill you or anyone in this building for that matter.
“Someone please call my mom,” you whispered as Brody worked on the bomb.
“You’re not going to die,” Derek said since it was his turn to be with you while Spencer read.
“Derek Morgan you call my mother right now because there are thirty minutes left, and Brody’s been this close to me since the beginning so I know the look on his face isn’t good news. Now call her!”
“Okay,” he whispered as he left. Spencer read furiously on his computer before shooting up and rushing over to Brody who looked at him in fear.
“I got the two main wires. One of them will shut it off and the other will make it explode. Red or blue?” Brody asked as the pair of scissors shook in his hand slightly.
“You can’t put this on me to make that decision,” Spencer breathed.
“Spencer, pick one. I know you haven’t been at that computer all this time for nothing. You’re smart. Use that brain of yours and pick one,” you urged as the clock reached only ten minutes.
“We got him!” Jennifer announced as officers brought in Ramirez. They brought the suspect over to you and Brody, and Spencer grew angry as he got in his face.
“Which wire is it? You put this together, so you know how to stop it,” he growled. Your eyes flitted from Spencer to Ramirez to Brody multiple times.
“Red,” Ramirez smirked. The whole place was quiet as Spencer thought about what to do.
“Spencer,” you whimpered when the time hit three minutes.
“Clip the red,” Spencer finally decided.
“Listen to what he says,” you urged Brody who hesitantly reached for the red wire with the scissors. The whole place was silent and the air was thick with tension. Brody took a deep breath before snipping the red, and as soon as the connection was broken, the clock stopped at three minutes and twelve seconds.
“Get him out of here,” Hotch ordered as police took him away.
“How did you know he wasn’t lying?” Jennifer asked as Brody carefully got the bomb off you.
“He wanted to take her from me, so naturally he figured I would think he’s lying which would make me go for the blue which then would kill her. He told the truth because he wanted to try and trick me.”
“Spencer,” you cried as soon as the bomb was off you. Getting up, you rushed into his arms as your body shook in fear.
“You’re okay. I’m right here,” Spencer sighed as he smoothed down your hair. All you could do was cry since words just didn’t want to form in your mouth. Your brain was too stunned to do anything else but cry. The bomb squad got the bomb out of here while the place cleared of police officers. Hotch gave you two some privacy while Rossi and Morgan decided to talk to the guy before they put him away for life.
“You’re okay,” Spencer whispered as he held you as you cried in his chest.
